Thanks with Dimension

Evening all.
The clocks have gone back here in the UK and the nights are definitely closing in. There have been sharp frosts these past few days so winter is only just around the corner.
Over at ATSM it's time for another challenge, this week it's -

ANYTHING GOES

AG is always easy to enter and difficult to decide what to do for the DT.
Anyway this what I came up with.

I was at a Copic colouring class over the weekend with the lovely Faye Wynn-Jones. She's the Copic ambassador for Europe and was teaching us how to colour properly with Copics.
We were discussing other ways you could use your Copics and reinkers, so I thought I would have another go at this layout but using stronger autumnal colours.  Also the challenge over at LIM is to show dimension and what better than layered die cuts!

I cut a couple of flowers and a few leaves from the Altenew Rose Flurries die set from off white card and then used my Copics to colour each layer. I used Y38, YR18, YR15 and YR16 for the large bloom, Y38, Y17,Y15 and Y11 for the small bud, the leaves were E39 and E29, I think!
I've found this the best way to get the subtle tonal changes required, as despite having tons of card in every single colour, I never have the right range of colours!
After layering up the blooms I popped them to one side and added some flicks of colour, diluted DI to the top right of the card base, made from the same card as the diecuts.
My sentiment strip was stamped in white on dark brown using part of a sentiment from Amazing You from Altenew and cut with a MFT banner die. Hope the Thank You sentiment counts as kindness for the AAA challenge!

OK, that's it from me but there's more inspiration from the DT over at the ATSM blog.

Release Day at Uniko

OK, it's going to be a long post, so grab yourself a cuppa and join me as I take you through the whole Christmas release.

I've used all the stencils in the lead up to release day and most of the stamps but here are a few more ideas for you.

This card uses the Christmas Folk Snowflake stencil and Big and Bold: Merry.
The base card was stamped with the large merry and embossed with semi dull clear EP to create a subtle background for the strip of snowflakes. These were made with white embossing paste on Kraft and to complete a white heat embossed Christmas from the same Big and Bold set.

No stencils on this second card, just one of the images from Winter Botanicals: Sweet Broom

To start I inked up a panel of white card with DOx in autumnal shades then stamped the sweet broom spray and embossed with gold EP. I then lifted out the center of each leaflet with water. The contrast wasn't as great as I wanted so went over again using a pale yellow Prismacolour pencil.
The sentiment was cit from vellum and white card and layered up then the so much element from the So Much set was stamped and embossed with white EP. The finished panel was then attached to a white base card.

My final card showcases the Background Builders Christmas 2018 set.

The flower element reminded me of Christmas sweaters, so using my MFT zipper dies, I created this.

I left the sentiment off the first one but decided that it could work as either a birthday or Christmas card by the addition of a sentiment.

Here I used the new Simply Said Blocks Christmas 'Happy Christmas' and for the second I added one from the Simply Said Blocks set, both embossed with white over red.

So here are the five brand new sets of stamps, 2 large and 2 small.

The next 2 clear stamp sets are being released from retirement!

As well as the stamps there are these 3 stencils!

So that's it from me., but there's tons more inspiration supplied by the rest of the DT.
Hop along and comment for a chance to win. All details are to be found on the Uniko blog.

Introducing... BIG & BOLD Merry & Background Builders: Christmas 2018

Morning all.
It's the last of the introductions from Uniko's Christmas release.
Here's my card featuring Background Builders 2018.

I used two of the strips to create this following the layout from CAS(e) this Sketch with the addition of a sentiment from previously released Simply Said Christmas.
The strips and sentiment were stamped then embossed with white EP on a red die cut panel, mounted on green and finally popped up on foam over a white base card.

Also featured today is the Big and Bold Merry set.

Introducing...Winter Botanicals: Sweet Broom & Quilted Stencil

Good morning.
Its day 3 of the Christmas launch over at Uniko. Today we showcase a stencil and addition to the Botanicals range.
Well I don't know about you but its getting rather parky around these parts. We even had a hailstorm on Friday, winter is rapidly approaching. So that was the inspiration for this card using the Quilted stencil.

I teamed it up with the previously released Winter foliage set to create a WOW card.

To create the quilted effect panel I inked through the stencil on the diagonal with Weathered Wood DI over white card, then removed it and added shading to create more depth using the edge of the stencil and more of the DI. Following the pattern created by the stencil I added soft colour, working off the sharp edge of the stencil towards the stenciled card, careful not to add too much. When added in one direction, I turned my piece 90' and repeated to get the shadow effect.
I stamped the holly foliage with the same DI and embossed it with clear EP before fussy cutting. The berries were stamped and embossed with silver EP and a few die cut branches complete the spray.
To add a little extra bling I added some small PPP sequin gems to the center of each cross. My sentiment from previously released Simply Said Christmas was stamped and embossed with silver EP.
My quilted panel was mounted on some silver glitter paper and the spray attached before adding to my white base card.

Also previewed by the DT is the new Winter Botanicals: Sweet Broom stamp set.

Introducing... Scandinavian Christmas, Christmas Folk Snowflake Stencils & Simply Said Blocks Christmas

Morning peeps.
It's the weekend and also day 2 of the Christmas release at Uniko.
First off the block is this cute folksy snowflake stencil.

I only used one of these gorgeous snowflakes, more of the rest later!
I used some plain white embossing paste over some Kraft card initially, cutting out the single flake from the rest for this. To get the shimmer I popped the stencil back over the raised image and added some Nuvo glimmer paste before mounting on a cream square over some frayed burlap continuing the folksy vibe. On a scrap of the kraft I stamped and embossed one of the SS blocks with white EP and trimmed to size.

I used a similar double layering of the stencil on this card using the Scandinavian Christmas stencil.

This time I used Ranger Texture Paste which allowed me to add colour over the white stenciling.
The colour was added with a Qtip so that I didn't get any colour where it wasn't required.

I used DOx in Gathered Twigs, Candied Apple and Broken China for the total Scandi feeling.
Using the layout at Freshly Made Sketches, I trimmed down the stenciled panel, adding it to a white base card before adding a sentiment on a die cut oval mounted on a scalloped die cut inked with the Candied Apple. A few die cut pine branches cut from scrap white were coloured with Gathered Twigs and slipped under the sentiment panel. The stamped sentiment is from the Most wonderful set.

What do you think of these new releases, fab aren't they?
Check out the rest of the DT for more tempting ideas.

Re introducing Jolly Christmas

Morning Uniko fans.
It's day one of the 2018 Christmas release.
Today we introduce two previously released sets that have been brought back, Jolly Christmas and Background Builders Christmas.
My card uses the Santa and sentiment from Jolly Christmas.

Isn't he cute. I used some of my extensive DP collection and the sketch from Sunday Stamps for the layout. Love the fun DP with the letters to Santa. Not sure where it was from but suspect it was some that my friend gave me when she downsized her stash! The green was a snippet from the bits box.

Santa was stamped and coloured with Copics before being fussy cut. I added some WOW white puff twinkle EP to the trim of his suit. This is a new EP I bought at Port Sunlight earlier in the month and to tell the truth I'm not particularly impressed with it, as there seems to be more twinkle than puff!
The frame is from MFT and was popped up on pads.

I don't have this 2nd set but it may find its way into the stash before too long!

I'll be back tomorrow with another brand new release from Uniko, see you then.

Morning all.
It's getting nearer to Christmas and the shops are starting to fill up with festive goodies, even if we aren't quite ready to let autumn go just yet. Anyway, Bev has come up with a few brand new Christmas stamps and stencils to tempt you, as well as a couple of re-releases of older but loved sets.
Over the next few days the team will be teasing you with a new release preview each day up to the big release day on Tuesday 30th October.

So for starters here are some sneak peeks of what is on offer.
