I thought the colours worked really well with their faintly Victorian attire. To be honest my starting point was a selection of blue and cream DP that my friend gave me years ago, so not even sure of the make. Anyway, I decided to use one of the DPs in the background, only a snippet but just enough to create a background behind the MFT, square frame. The Copics used for the blue element are not quite what I had in mind but overall they worked. As always neutrals are welcome along with our challenge colours.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">So after colouring, fussy cutting the girls out, I attached them to my frame and glued the snippet of DP onto my pale cream coloured card. I stamped the Uniko greeting with Altenew Mangrove Root, I thought that black would be too much of a contrast on the pale cream card. I chose the square frame as the original image had the girls sitting on a wall, but I cut it off to better fit with the design.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Well that's all from me but for more cream and blue inspiration why not check out the rest of the Color Hues DT here along with our GD <a href="https://colorhuesthecolorchallenge.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">here</a>. </div><p></p>Julie Bhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02116661723903819305noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5574388605924932359.post-19787915360849060502024-03-11T09:00:00.127+00:002024-03-11T09:18:48.895+00:00Revisiting Spring Botanicals<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Good morning and welcome.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Today the Uniko team are revisiting a previously released stamp set, well a series actually!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">There are 4 stamps in the Spring Botanicals set, Daffodil, Snowdrop, Tulip and Crocus. In my card I've used 2 of them, Crocus and Snowdrop.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfudiCtJnZmEKqu1RR_k1WBc-FODKkEteGyb6UALxKF3FfraX3gVyQ4f-ahkSH8BcLXdhas0CYhyphenhyphenRbq32lAy4dPiM0N0psweIiGV9Lu90asnqS_zplzkbYlut73FoPSJLvRNlm2-NYgGuALDGtuPriwNYM0pMG7f_Lhwhgh-CelOv3wQd3NOZvvdhx72pF/s2820/springbotanicals.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2820" data-original-width="2044" height="430" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfudiCtJnZmEKqu1RR_k1WBc-FODKkEteGyb6UALxKF3FfraX3gVyQ4f-ahkSH8BcLXdhas0CYhyphenhyphenRbq32lAy4dPiM0N0psweIiGV9Lu90asnqS_zplzkbYlut73FoPSJLvRNlm2-NYgGuALDGtuPriwNYM0pMG7f_Lhwhgh-CelOv3wQd3NOZvvdhx72pF/w312-h430/springbotanicals.jpg" width="312" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">My inspiration was the flowers that were blooming at the time I made it. The snowdrops were in full bloom at the top of the drive and the crocus were adding some welcome colour to the long grass in the back garden. I chose the purple ones as the birds have decimated the white and yellow ones!! Still they do look fab pocking up in the longer grass. I did think of adding some daffodils but thought it would be too busy. This uses the same technique as <a href="https://handcraftedbyjules.blogspot.com/2024/01/color-hues-79-using-some-uniko-stash.html" target="_blank">this card</a>, I really like how it focuses the eye but I used a slightly larger pair of dies to accommodate the flowers.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">On a panel of white card, I stamped and masked the crocus and snowdrops to create a pleasing arrangement, then coloured the flowers and leaves with Copic markers. I was tempted to colour the background but left it white in the end. I took two nesting circle dies and lined them up evenly to create a frame die, securing with tape so they didn't move whilst cutting. Once cut, I removed the dies and cut a frame from fun foam, gluing the foam behind the coloured, die cut frame.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Using the largest circle, I die cut a circle from scrap paper and glued the frame onto it and then the center was placed back and glued too, matching the pattern of flowers. The finished panel was then added to a 5 x 7 base card and the simple white on black sentiment, Pure Florals-Peony, added on pads.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Well that's what I came up with but what about the rest of the team?</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Just follow the links to see what the rest of the BAs and Bev have made using this great group of stamp sets.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><p> <a href="http://neetandcrafty.blogspot.com/" style="color: #d94141;" target="_blank">Anita</a></p><div><a href="http://www.uniko.co.uk/blog" style="color: #d94141; text-decoration-line: none;" target="_blank">Bev</a><br /><br /></div><div><a href="http://izzyscrap.com/tag/Uniko" style="color: #d94141; text-decoration-line: none;" target="_blank">Izzy</a><br /></div><div><br /><a href="https://handcraftedbyjules.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/Uniko" style="color: #d94141; text-decoration-line: none;" target="_blank">Julie</a> -me<br /></div><div><br /></div><div><a href="https://morticraft.blogspot.com/search/label/Uniko" style="color: #d94141; text-decoration-line: none;" target="_blank">Steph</a></div><div><br style="background-color: white; font-family: "Coming Soon"; font-size: 13px;" /></div></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://madewithlovencare.blogspot.com/" style="background-color: white; color: #d94141; font-family: "Coming Soon";" target="_blank">Vinita</a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;">Don't forget to leave a comment as you hop along because <span style="caret-color: rgb(102, 102, 102); font-family: inherit;">as usual Bev is offering a prize to one lucky comment left along the hop. We've got a brand new challenge over at <a href="http://cardz4guyz.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Cardz4Guyz</a> today, something of a new one to me, we are celebrating Namesake Day, always the 1st Sunday in March. <span face=""Google Sans", arial, sans-serif" style="background-color: white; color: #202124; text-align: left;">Namesake Day is all about the origins of surnames and given names or who or what they were named after.</span><span face=""Google Sans", arial, sans-serif" style="background-color: white; color: #202124; text-align: left;"> While you share your name or surname with many other people, there is always a reason why your parents gave you that name!</span></span></p><div style="background-color: white; text-align: center;"><span style="color: #2b00fe; font-family: inherit;">USE A LETTER FROM YOUR NAME IN YOUR DESIGN</span></div><div style="background-color: white; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">My given name is just Julie, no middle name but if my Mum had had her way it would have been MYRA! Thanks Dad for standing up for me, and apologies to any Myras out there but I do prefer Julie!! There were a lot of Julies born around the same time as me, there was even a Julie with the same birthdate as mine at school. No idea why that was, must have been someone in the news. My married name is self explanatory, BEECH, of or near the Beech tree but my maiden name was Hilton, meaning of the farmstead on the hill. I do love a bit of family history so surnames have always had a fascination for me.</span></div><div style="background-color: white; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div><div style="background-color: white; text-align: center;"><div><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span>So here's my card using another LOTV image,</span> a Judo Boy, using my initials, JB, as inspiration as well as B for birthday! I chose a couple of Altenew mini cube sets for the inking, Tropical Forest and Sweet Dreams. There are four turns so I used all 4 of each set, makes it so easy!!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Once the panel was stamped, I stared at it for quite awhile trying to decide what to do with it! Loved the panel and didn't want to mask all those pretty blooms, so simply added a sentiment roundel, Uniko, from my stash, white embossing on pale grey. Trimmed and mounted on a simple matching white A6 base card to complete.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">So where will these new colours take you? On a separate piece of matching card I die cut the background panel and then used the same die to draw around the die on the inside over some DP of a crowd, that came in a Making Cards Cards for Men mag over 10 years ago!! When cut out freehand and glued to the panel, it creates a neat border.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">In the same mag was some grass DP which I edged with a grass punch, MS, and then glued to the front of the valley sides. The crowd was then added to the back and a scrap panel of card was added as an easel to give extra stability.</div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHKFL39cko_IC5cbJA5oqjKhRz90tyCioA7a_XWPV-o9X6zGHWBn-xFk7z6d77Gx72zCPkNN9wkip74z8eZLcLtLeVEuuWkz9AtmzmTyOhEFJFNO1wLbJkFaqPC8I738Xotk60JMvLTErTm5oF3ip3K_PlbeDXSwz4NGdtirHwynJDS7scevprK9A18chn/s2292/joe%20closeup.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2008" data-original-width="2292" height="280" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHKFL39cko_IC5cbJA5oqjKhRz90tyCioA7a_XWPV-o9X6zGHWBn-xFk7z6d77Gx72zCPkNN9wkip74z8eZLcLtLeVEuuWkz9AtmzmTyOhEFJFNO1wLbJkFaqPC8I738Xotk60JMvLTErTm5oF3ip3K_PlbeDXSwz4NGdtirHwynJDS7scevprK9A18chn/s320/joe%20closeup.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">You can see a little better what I mean here.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The cute footballer, LOTV, was coloured with Copics then fussy cut and placed on the middle mountain fold. Background Blocks MOD Builder<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Morning all, it's the final day of our new release introductions at Uniko. Today we are focusing on a new addition to the background blocks stable, Background Blocks, MOD Builder.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">You may recognise the pattern from one of Bev's earlier released stencils MOD Builder stencil.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Here's what I came up with using it.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqirCBwaFr8u6uB1m_fTLxS1a35ORV7JHek2HpEriWoDvK4q_to1Zq4kT5ee-OI-4tbeqV5cMRUmVY-1lUBwaACyc9HiiAb9_tj3iHo09V6vfr1lMfIGiPi4f9IxfkQzhAdOnt3jXC-jTP4JPdd0wV6oJlQQGUx47Qo3q9m1IRpCG54d5ZVkXffeFmkXwf/s2822/MCM.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1637" data-original-width="2822" height="233" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqirCBwaFr8u6uB1m_fTLxS1a35ORV7JHek2HpEriWoDvK4q_to1Zq4kT5ee-OI-4tbeqV5cMRUmVY-1lUBwaACyc9HiiAb9_tj3iHo09V6vfr1lMfIGiPi4f9IxfkQzhAdOnt3jXC-jTP4JPdd0wV6oJlQQGUx47Qo3q9m1IRpCG54d5ZVkXffeFmkXwf/w400-h233/MCM.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">On a panel of white card, I inked a rainbow of colours using DI inks, then stamped the block with matching ink over the top. I decided to make a slimline card as my inked panel was slightly too large for a standard A6 without loosing the rainbow effect. The frame was cut from white and the panel placed under, after stamping and heat embossing in white the sentiment from Mid Century Modern Birthday set. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">So what do you think? I'm back with my card for the brand new colour duo from <a href="https://colorhuesthecolorchallenge.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Color Hues</a>. Anyway here is another from my to colour box, using another image stamped on my friends Di's visit a few years ago. This is another LOTV image called Dandelion Clocks. Do you remember blowing the seeds off a dandelion and counting off the hours as you blew the little parachute seeds off?</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">So after colouring with Copics, a few from the BG group, 10,11 and 34 for the mint and three from the V group, 12, 15 and 18 for the lilac. Don't know what possessed me to use Copics as these two colours are the least well covered by the Copic range. Luckily I remembered I had some NitWits DP that also fit the bill! The wings were coloured with the same BG group but I added a couple of layers of Wink of Stella to add some extra sparkle to her wings.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">As I was rootling through the EFs, I also found a Dandelion Clock EF that was the perfect backdrop, think it could be either a DoCrafts or a Hobbycrafts make. My little sentiment is from my early days of crafting, Molly Bloom, no longer in business.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">As to assembly, I fussy cut the fairy out, added my DP to an A6 note card and edged the DP with a thin strip and a die cut scalloped edge from card coloured with V15, a great way to link your image to your background and not spend hours looking for just the right colour!! My white embossed panel square was added with pads, then the sentiment, finally the image, again on pads.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">So where will these new colours take you? We'd love to see your takes in the gallery.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Should you need more inspiration there's always the rest of the DT and our GD to help<a href="https://colorhuesthecolorchallenge.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"> here</a>.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Joining in over at:-</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://promarkerchallenge.blogspot.com/2024/02/week-726-add-some-sparkle.html" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img border="0" data-original-height="1099" data-original-width="1600" height="138" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjA0jx0tPwGnPZps9Klfhb4EYOQcn17Oe5Faf8uUMq4sAuYoR2ZyFzuiBXTRhzRHhNa5SAg2tVSxfHm-joPmfEPCD8RyMBZEmI0pRNWpiH7iXgQkqfLjkP_2-cCKZKClIV55It4QGZdmeDprVUkADNvrpWPALe5RBQDvcaT-n482wQjS-Ylk4F0HUjKjen/w200-h138/Passion%20For%20Markers%20logo.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Week 726 Add Some Sparkle</div><p></p>Julie Bhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02116661723903819305noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5574388605924932359.post-32992008361044167342024-02-16T09:00:00.061+00:002024-02-16T09:00:00.147+00:00Mid Century Modern Everyday Sentiments<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Good morning, it's day 3 of the 12th Birthday release from Uniko.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Today we introduce an addition to our sentiment stamps, a smaller version of our MCM Birthday from yesterday. You might recognise the font from <a href="https://handcraftedbyjules.blogspot.com/2024/02/uniko-birthday-inspiration.html" target="_blank">this card</a>. It also matches with the Christmas MCM set previously released. Here I've just used one of the sentiments in a graphic style card.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMG3LFoorPDgMnzKZEA_coaUZFG8NUKWCa0aMcnleCEHyCA7QKaa7xccNGC2M176Sh18Ixw6DxAVJb6cWKJ8NYxksjQ24QrCa8GAFge93D7QFFPDf0qSlj9PMCHrMoJPDyMZo8S0ZOa3lhhXkUPkRlMK0O-FEGcVvqhx7AJnsthJPoCr9gqeJ812vaRrJp/s2686/MCM%20sentiments.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2686" data-original-width="1854" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMG3LFoorPDgMnzKZEA_coaUZFG8NUKWCa0aMcnleCEHyCA7QKaa7xccNGC2M176Sh18Ixw6DxAVJb6cWKJ8NYxksjQ24QrCa8GAFge93D7QFFPDf0qSlj9PMCHrMoJPDyMZo8S0ZOa3lhhXkUPkRlMK0O-FEGcVvqhx7AJnsthJPoCr9gqeJ812vaRrJp/w276-h400/MCM%20sentiments.jpg" width="276" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The inspiration was a card I saw using strips of colour to create a pattern. Instead of strips, I used the stamp to create squares in different colours, Altenew's Bamboo, Galactic Stream and Turquoise. Once my panel was covered, I added it at an angle across the white base card. The Fabulous You was stamped onto a panel inked to match with white EP and a couple of strips were also added above and below.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">That's all for today but I'll be back tomorrow with the final introduction before the big release.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">In the meantime why not check out the rest of the team's ideas.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><p> <a href="http://neetandcrafty.blogspot.com/" style="color: #d94141;" target="_blank">Anita</a></p><div><a href="http://www.uniko.co.uk/blog" style="color: #d94141; text-decoration-line: none;" target="_blank">Bev</a><br /><br /></div><div><a href="http://izzyscrap.com/tag/Uniko" style="color: #d94141; text-decoration-line: none;" target="_blank">Izzy</a><br /></div><div><br /><a href="https://handcraftedbyjules.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/Uniko" style="color: #d94141; text-decoration-line: none;" target="_blank">Julie</a> -me<br /></div><div><br /></div><div><a href="https://morticraft.blogspot.com/search/label/Uniko" style="color: #d94141; text-decoration-line: none;" target="_blank">Steph</a></div><div><br style="background-color: white; font-family: "Coming Soon"; font-size: 13px;" /></div></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://madewithlovencare.blogspot.com/" style="background-color: white; color: #d94141; font-family: "Coming Soon";" target="_blank">Vinita</a></div></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcFmBWThVFZTHzWIu0v4aP5azbdLWd86nID7hU2GVam7-gexXfc4C2_R-I7gG8y4S_P-RjhMkQaIiBXlj-og8lbssKcTmeCmW8t1o033hxu76GkieN-Nr0UYTDUin3-OThbZli_zdecrjR7wQWhZEGXqRjr4KQFYEHfOIcLlxSHKF_wmWf6NfcObFttIeo/s400/12years.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="170" data-original-width="400" height="136" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcFmBWThVFZTHzWIu0v4aP5azbdLWd86nID7hU2GVam7-gexXfc4C2_R-I7gG8y4S_P-RjhMkQaIiBXlj-og8lbssKcTmeCmW8t1o033hxu76GkieN-Nr0UYTDUin3-OThbZli_zdecrjR7wQWhZEGXqRjr4KQFYEHfOIcLlxSHKF_wmWf6NfcObFttIeo/s320/12years.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><p></p>Julie Bhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02116661723903819305noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5574388605924932359.post-85799753394864615082024-02-15T09:00:00.068+00:002024-02-15T09:00:00.134+00:00Introducing... I liked the clean look so did not add any sentiment.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Here's a second card using the parcels again but this time simply stamped using DI and the ribbons similarly before fussy cutting each element out.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg92NnQgdCB53_gbrkVHazmr_2Gp9xBn6_ZDvSc45KBVugYgSJiJM7kOKJdt_PYG4xABHTukRVet11vPdtc2v1zMIcXtDayZqaouUzXegQi3ahj0836chnUJjKw03c9KYq7_E5YrSpx2Edlg4tbpPlnkJzA9u1_p2Z8ja0nnS2e9FFops7kFhw0N3TvsNi5/s2528/pinkbirthday.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2024" data-original-width="2528" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg92NnQgdCB53_gbrkVHazmr_2Gp9xBn6_ZDvSc45KBVugYgSJiJM7kOKJdt_PYG4xABHTukRVet11vPdtc2v1zMIcXtDayZqaouUzXegQi3ahj0836chnUJjKw03c9KYq7_E5YrSpx2Edlg4tbpPlnkJzA9u1_p2Z8ja0nnS2e9FFops7kFhw0N3TvsNi5/w400-h320/pinkbirthday.png" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Just to show how well it combines with other sets I've used the sentiment from Birthday sentiments instead of the one from the set. Ink & Flip Geometric Heart Layering Stencil <p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">We start off the introductions for the Uniko birthday release with another of Bev's Ink and Flip stencils.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This time as it's Valentine's Day she's designed a heart shaped one. Here's my take.</div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGODY9EMZE14G2j5HYT7Kz_gkT8v_oxdYhK-PNKZ75FlnYTZC9wIGlWsj9mIQfIsRK7J-tbicL5Q0PQv_cv7y2k3XuaxnsgBYNwpy_aRFvWcLAy3dpwSfkN3HsqHel1pGHLxiDxQARNhxJhE6m67UkW5NtmVNEv8UiwHZgGtXwqq46YDaNkwieZrdSOjYD/s2657/shattered%20heart.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2657" data-original-width="1962" height="452" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGODY9EMZE14G2j5HYT7Kz_gkT8v_oxdYhK-PNKZ75FlnYTZC9wIGlWsj9mIQfIsRK7J-tbicL5Q0PQv_cv7y2k3XuaxnsgBYNwpy_aRFvWcLAy3dpwSfkN3HsqHel1pGHLxiDxQARNhxJhE6m67UkW5NtmVNEv8UiwHZgGtXwqq46YDaNkwieZrdSOjYD/w333-h452/shattered%20heart.jpg" width="333" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">It is a two part stencil, one to create a background and one to create this fractured heart pattern.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">To begin I inked up the first side of the stencil with Abandoned Coral DOx then wiped it clean, flipped it over and repeated this time using Worn Lipstick DOx. The fracture pattern gives the heart a sense of dimension, so I went one further and decided to use some very old embossing tools and a mat to give the heart a padded look. I started by placing the other part of the stencil over the inked heart and using a fine ball tool, drew around the heart, then flipping over to repeat the process. Once I had the outline, I flipped the inked panel over and using a couple of large ball tools and the mat, raised up the heart shape. A smaller heart shape cut from white fun foam was glued behind the heart before the panel was added to an A6 base card.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; This time Helen has chosen the theme of:-</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="color: red;">LOVE</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I know it's nearly Valentines Day for those romantics out there but the OH and I don't do Valentine's Day. I'm not saying he isn't romantic, we have been married over 45 years, but we just don't do the flowers and card thing. Last time he bought me flowers, I was so shocked, I asked him what he'd done wrong!!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Anyway I have made this not too shmaltzy card using the same LOTV sentiment I used for the Color Hues card and their cute James the bear with Heart that I stamped when my friend Di came to visit, I think. He was another image languishing in the to colour box!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGNWo7Z2hdRnMVkWmPx9fMDMIYdxg-Tyzni04f3GG38937Dcy9gqVpL35TLPJM95knKkPLYekjOwzK_T876VwDSt6JTT0Vo94N4OGgQzTq25-F3qymDbYMUT8wjJ-R4wk4ne1mmePxU1UIUkNK1Z5Rs-EqHMJ2tnFRyV2NrkFKe-0bhlT7S41oiRhyphenhyphenEs7h/s2738/c4glove.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2738" data-original-width="1876" height="439" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGNWo7Z2hdRnMVkWmPx9fMDMIYdxg-Tyzni04f3GG38937Dcy9gqVpL35TLPJM95knKkPLYekjOwzK_T876VwDSt6JTT0Vo94N4OGgQzTq25-F3qymDbYMUT8wjJ-R4wk4ne1mmePxU1UIUkNK1Z5Rs-EqHMJ2tnFRyV2NrkFKe-0bhlT7S41oiRhyphenhyphenEs7h/w301-h439/c4glove.jpg" width="301" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">After colouring with Copics an fussy cutting James out, I die cut a circle from some linen effect white card and then a slightly larger circle from the same but used the wrong or plain side to stamp the sentiment in Memento Gray Flannel. The panel was trimmed to leave a border on the A6 note card, sentiment added behind the opening and the front added with foam tape. James was placed to one side.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I think this card could be used for anniversaries or Valentine's Day but where will the theme take you? It must be 12 or so years ago. I found it languishing in a drawer whilst having a tidy up, waiting for some love! It's a LOTV stamp called Chocolate Box, probably long since retired.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I chose to use Copic markers to colour, all from the R group, to get a few different shades of red and a pink. I fussy cut the image and mounted it flat over a panel of white card, on which I'd already stamped this LOTV sentiment in Memento Gray Flannel.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The whole panel was then attached to an A5 top fold base card. Not too slushy, I don't do slushy, but romantic in a subtle way. Suitable for a birthday, anniversary or even Valentine's day, should you be so inclined.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">So where will these new colours take you? There used to be items on that programme featuring all sorts of different sports and one was hill climbing, not on foot but sports cars trying to go up steep hills and around sharp bends as quickly as possible. The cars were usually older style ones such as in this picture, driven by enthusiastic drivers, usually men without safety hats just goggles, some of them never quite made it to the top despite ALL their best efforts. My memory may be playing tricks but it always seemed to be either foggy or raining!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">As I also needed a card for my best friend's partner, this image certainly fit the bill as he loves watching motor sport. I coloured it with Copics, and then laid it over a 5" square card that I'd covered with some black and white stripped DP and a section of road atlas. The sentiment, LOTV were added to complete.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Quite a simple card to make once I'd decided which no ball sport to use!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">So where will the new theme take you? This is a trick to divert the eye from the contrast between the MM paper and off white base card.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">These next two cards should really have been just one but I didn't think it through enough before I started to stamp.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQQrG_-LggpAZejQhan2loUbU94RdZAv_cHLwQtX3jTem5kdESSebNvYFDKlNbdOuXRbmPVxGT78xa5pRB6CRQNGXtr4gVhzoJWSunQO5vBYmp6Yz6z3Ona9OWDZ3p_9KRDqaKhrBS8F5c8s4XuCFdF91zT1VNuuZQetyK8VIVVyFCAEKVOjEq6QhBLxe-/s2734/bblooms1.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2734" data-original-width="2023" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQQrG_-LggpAZejQhan2loUbU94RdZAv_cHLwQtX3jTem5kdESSebNvYFDKlNbdOuXRbmPVxGT78xa5pRB6CRQNGXtr4gVhzoJWSunQO5vBYmp6Yz6z3Ona9OWDZ3p_9KRDqaKhrBS8F5c8s4XuCFdF91zT1VNuuZQetyK8VIVVyFCAEKVOjEq6QhBLxe-/w296-h400/bblooms1.jpg" width="296" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyjjcN_F5W7oopdEVieMLyNJZczMxsdYhRIq5e8uYHpA3A3ebb54IQ4Aupyo8Yfv7na5aavPKqGmQQ12MNykLVDkRw9zVEVjLOR7eDxBeSaYhjHDfr9GH4QUyhDHa7zfx096GX6MPnsafuVVchmRWyFE14raJtm8ri_Vsls2Z8Nu7b-OGjrSi0MTOlQHVn/s2785/beautiful%20blooms1.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2785" data-original-width="1936" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyjjcN_F5W7oopdEVieMLyNJZczMxsdYhRIq5e8uYHpA3A3ebb54IQ4Aupyo8Yfv7na5aavPKqGmQQ12MNykLVDkRw9zVEVjLOR7eDxBeSaYhjHDfr9GH4QUyhDHa7zfx096GX6MPnsafuVVchmRWyFE14raJtm8ri_Vsls2Z8Nu7b-OGjrSi0MTOlQHVn/w278-h400/beautiful%20blooms1.jpg" width="278" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The first one is simple stamping and masking but the second is what the first should have been. It's Tuesday and <a href="http://cardz4guyz.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Cardz4Guyz</a> is back from it's Christmas break. Hope you all had a fabulous time with friends and family. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Did you get lots of new goodies from Santa? I did but I'm not sharing them with you today, this card was made using some birthday goodies that are having their first outing with this colourful card I made for my Grandson's birthday. I decided to share it here as the theme at Cardz4Guyz is:-</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="color: #2b00fe;">USE SOMETHING NEW</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">So if you did get something new in your stocking or if you have a Mt NEBUS, now is the time to get making!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIi9SDd3xFlicUokL3v2j8wlCbnm6wfJ0l-K7M3I6y3fuCJBYfuV0zjK12c37zv90lSAX6RaM_vHaqVTDZLYreLZc_ZORw2zNhGe-vB6e2ye7h-GGIBWCk7VrhZjXaX0_mo0hsCahyphenhyphen4Vit7G51Y7eGlUAyRNyjV1i7HnUNgwVGmYWBf_JFVk5kE9_U9kex/s2574/SEB%206.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2574" data-original-width="1841" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIi9SDd3xFlicUokL3v2j8wlCbnm6wfJ0l-K7M3I6y3fuCJBYfuV0zjK12c37zv90lSAX6RaM_vHaqVTDZLYreLZc_ZORw2zNhGe-vB6e2ye7h-GGIBWCk7VrhZjXaX0_mo0hsCahyphenhyphen4Vit7G51Y7eGlUAyRNyjV1i7HnUNgwVGmYWBf_JFVk5kE9_U9kex/w286-h400/SEB%206.jpg" width="286" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I got lots of stash for making girlie cards at Christmas but nothing for my masculine makes so this set stepped into the breach, it's a Sizzix set called Dinosaurs, that I cut from an assortment of card scraps for my rainbow loving Grandson. I did spend a lot of time sticking all the bits together but he's worth it!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Once I had a few dinosaurs cut and assembled, I lay them out on an A5 panel of black card and glued them down, trimming off the overhanging bits. They all point in one direction but overall I'm happy with the layout. The sentiment is an old LOTV one that I stamped on black and heat embossed with white EP before cutting out with a circle die and mounting on a slightly larger white one. Once the tricky little die cuts were dealt with the rest was quite quick!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">So where will this new challenge take you? I kept all the other colours neutral by using Copics in the E group, no citrus or bright red in this! After fussy cutting them out, I inked an A6 side fold card with Salty Ocean DI through a STAMPlorations stencil to give the look of rippling water and then glued the ladies over the top. The sentiment which comes with the stamp was added on a die cut speech bubble.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">So where will this combo take you? After colouring with Copics, I fussy cut the scene and put it to one side. The base card is A5 which I covered with some NitWits festive DP, red background and a white background one for the center. The top panel was cut, then embossed twice with a really old Cuttlebug EF that rarely gets used but was perfect for this scene of tree decorating. The fussy cut scene was added to the bottom of this embossed panel and added to the card on foam pads. A simple stamped Uniko sentiment completes.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">That's all for the moment but best wishes for a fab festive period.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Joining in over at:-</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://christmaswiththecuties.blogspot.com/2023/12/challenge-no-11-something-cute-and.html" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img border="0" data-original-height="315" data-original-width="764" height="83" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLUlqReI3bvGfSNVfmjEuWTLS-R887v0QuOJlvSbFs6AjrR6wUvlBGpCL4RTn5keZHcYkwBBaNJMbhqDLqja7oN7Pfn_yk_Clc4-KL9S1P-qj_9RwdC6-GfiudiM52CbOrK924kMSudQsPQKmI7TFELCUPB3SrBRnRMVQFCHoL0Bhi6tNOalk4eQfvg5wj/w200-h83/Headernewwords.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Something Cute and Christmassy</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://asyoulikeitchallenge.blogspot.com/2023/12/final-challenge-for-2023-anything-goes.html" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img border="0" data-original-height="339" data-original-width="742" height="91" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjS6FWAFUKiTIVDujNCIFdgg6oxA_KPwqmGoUycOgz0MzLgZ_its6GtBbtBt8nzHlKTBpi0K3elN8-DQICkblLK4FQq3WWRMADIGEW9eNAXz43vhqiEIsox60470I51CoDcPvMfGDUwcRZCs_8WEswzn4WmKw4s4wYqGcTvN5D3cMMBAhLxAS8fdgdtyWlZ/w200-h91/As%20you%20like%20it%20-%20Header_show%20us%20your%20style-%20with%20bird%20and%20cage%20_%20B.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Anything Goes</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://promarkerchallenge.blogspot.com/2023/12/week-719-mega-christmas-challenge-add.html" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img border="0" data-original-height="1099" data-original-width="1600" height="138" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEineLyshTBT-PKCcJf8H-qmN7Q0guJDM3ThxDIrzGAMWicj-C4e8RJdyWOVSRyvuq4HkH0o4aiaXwcelazyOE2VAXt-8GLOtQB0k3WYBaQs_OccNsPJE3ENdw1rzYWDDE1PKU2VTjgqeSmUVjkp0n1eqnQW1iMDGqsMuckJKHxF-xKQFBYZ9NRVOPNqxdpC/w200-h138/Passion%20For%20Markers%20logo.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Mega Christmas Challenge -add a sentiment</div><p></p>Julie Bhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02116661723903819305noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5574388605924932359.post-86274544272589935292023-12-14T12:01:00.002+00:002023-12-14T12:01:39.323+00:00Cute and Stripes<p></p><div style="text-align: center;">Afternoon, I'm back with another Christmas make, this time featuring a couple of cute Margaret Sherry mice and a panel of stripes made using scraps.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgc3CKSzpIPtTBgCmuO2TXh-TazNMjogxHhY_3wk3rHb-CUiLDRiPgHfX3bDTr9IqOqwwh_Ir83w0XPcDyMX3KDuV8sz9xwycHpsor0O09bLcOobTurgc2D8kuRjglrMNJ6CwPMnCXI9lNYzQf7cQuinNlSYTvV-f9MqzLJslS_ER2ag4gVCJtNMmws9QAn/s1920/paperstripmice.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1905" data-original-width="1920" height="318" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgc3CKSzpIPtTBgCmuO2TXh-TazNMjogxHhY_3wk3rHb-CUiLDRiPgHfX3bDTr9IqOqwwh_Ir83w0XPcDyMX3KDuV8sz9xwycHpsor0O09bLcOobTurgc2D8kuRjglrMNJ6CwPMnCXI9lNYzQf7cQuinNlSYTvV-f9MqzLJslS_ER2ag4gVCJtNMmws9QAn/s320/paperstripmice.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">How cute are these mice holding a pressie? Quite a simple background for these fussy cut meeces, off cuts from the scrap drawer rearranged on a panel of white to create a pattern. Not enough to cover the whole area but I quite like the contrast.</div><div style="text-align: center;">After stamping, colouring with Copics, they were fussy cut and added to my panel with foam pads, a simple Woodware greeting completes. All mounted flat on a small square, green base card.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">The first of our trees, ancient artificial, is now up and the other is still standing in the garden awaiting the chain saw. Sadly it has grown far too vigorously since we replanted it after a Christmas 10 years or so ago and has to come down before it takes the nearby wall first! At least we will have the benefit of it again before it becomes fire wood. Who knew? I can see this grumpy chaps eyes, so he's definitely a gnome! In fact he's a Stamping Bella gnome, one of a trio that I bought a while ago, coloured with Copics and then fussy cut. He does look a little too grumpy, hence the title of the post. I was going to add it to the card but my design didn't look quite right, so left it off. It's a simple layered design, Brusho cling film panel to which I added some Brusho SprinkleIT iridescent gold glitter with the Brusho and a couple of die cut snowy hills and trees. This time I wet my panel BEFORE adding the Brusho and SprinkleIT, the effect is much better than the first try <a href="https://handcraftedbyjules.blogspot.com/2023/12/cas-christmas.html" target="_blank">here</a>.
