25 Days of Christmas Tags

Hi and welcome to a post that is all about Tracey's 25 Days of Christmas Tags extravaganza. Today Uniko are the featured company, so the BA's are joining in with some ideas for you.
Here's my take using some of Uniko's 'snowy' sets!

I don't do shabby chic really but I do love and admire those made by others and after seeing a card on Pinterest, I was inspired to turn the idea into a tag, but in my own way!

I die cut a couple of circles from white card, a stitched one and a slightly larger plain one. I wanted the texture of the stitching and the only other die I had that was slightly larger in diameter was a plain one! Basically just use what you have!
Using the smaller circle, I masked off sections and secured it in my MISTI, before adding the stamping and inking. I went with a brown and blue colour palette, using shades of brown from Altenew's Warm Gray set and the blue was Tumbled Glass DI.
The stamped snowflakes are from Uniko's Stunning Snowflakes and Snowflake Serenade sets. The large die cut one is also Uniko, the large Sparkling Snowflake die, which I cut down to fit the tag, adding a punched snowflake from the stash on top. I couldn't find any sparkly card the right colour, so added Versamark all over the die cut and added some WOW white sparkle puffy EP., the smaller snowflake was edged in Tumbled Glass DI.

The middle panel was stamped using the Christmas Background Builders set and the bottom right with two stamps from the Background Builders Classic set, plus a couple of punched snowflakes edged in DI.
To finish, I added clear Nuovo drops in Grey Mist in between sections and in groups of 3 over the right hand panels, silver stickles to the brown snowflake centers and pearls to the die cut ones.
Once dry, I sandwiched the silver die cut hanger between the two circles and added a bow of blue, brown and jute string.
There's lots more Uniko tag inspiration over on the Uniko blog as well as LOTS of tag inspiration over on Tracey's blog.

Simples.

Here is my card using the poinsettia outline from the Season of Beauty stamp set and Background Builders Christmas set.

I used the layout from a card I made last month at a craft class in N Wales with Lydia from Altenew.
I love watercolouring but struggle to use it loosely enough, so really had to just go with this colouring!
On a panel of Mixed Media paper, I stamped the outlines and leaves with Altenew Black ink and left it to dry thoroughly. Taking each sepal or leaf at a time, I added some clean water with a medium brush before adding slightly watered down Altenew ink, first Heartbeat, then Vineyard Berry to the base of the sepal or leaf. The water takes the ink and blends it for you. Don't be too precise adding the clear water as the white patches liven up the image. By the way I say sepal as the flowers of a poinsettia are actually the tiny insignificant yellow centers! I used Altenew's Forest Glades and Evergreen ink for the leaves.
If you need to go back in to deepen the colour, add some water first to the while leaf or sepal so you don't end up with hard edges.
When completely dry, I added some splatters of gold and a sentiment strip, a narrow strip of gold glitter paper under the sentiment completes.
So that's me done, but if you would like to join in check out the rules below.

Re introducing Jolly Christmas

Morning Uniko fans.
It's day one of the 2018 Christmas release.
Today we introduce two previously released sets that have been brought back, Jolly Christmas and Background Builders Christmas.
My card uses the Santa and sentiment from Jolly Christmas.

Isn't he cute. I used some of my extensive DP collection and the sketch from Sunday Stamps for the layout. Love the fun DP with the letters to Santa. Not sure where it was from but suspect it was some that my friend gave me when she downsized her stash! The green was a snippet from the bits box.

Santa was stamped and coloured with Copics before being fussy cut. I added some WOW white puff twinkle EP to the trim of his suit. This is a new EP I bought at Port Sunlight earlier in the month and to tell the truth I'm not particularly impressed with it, as there seems to be more twinkle than puff!
The frame is from MFT and was popped up on pads.

I don't have this 2nd set but it may find its way into the stash before too long!

For more inspiration check out the rest of the team

Julie - that'll be me
I'll be back tomorrow with another brand new release from Uniko, see you then.
