Color Hues #89

Good afternoon. My Granddaughter and Son have just gone home after a brief stay whilst mum was on a hen do, lovely to see them both. As usual we ended up playing 'Nanny hide', in other words come with me Nanny and wait in the walk in wardrobe upstairs for Gandad to find us!

Anyway it's now time to share my inspiration for the new Color Hues challenge.

I've used the sketch over at The Flower Challenge, I do love a good sketch, amongst other challenges and these Altenew Rose Flurry die cuts fit the the bill. As usual, rather that struggle to find enough graduated coloured card, I die cut all my elements from white card and coloured with Copic Markers, RV10, 11, 13 and 14 for the pink blooms and G94 and 96 for the leaves. You may recognise the net die cut from my tennis girl card from a couple of months back but this time I just added it to a plain white A6 base card in it's entirety. I've finally succumbed and got a Glimmer machine, for Christmas from the OH, and this is one of the sentiments I got with at the same time, made using some gold foil. It's a bit tricky to photograph, hence it's laid down on the windowsill to prevent the sun from making the camera and me very unhappy!
So that's it from me but please check out the rest of the DT and our guest here and then join in, we always love to see how you use the colours.

You Are The Best

Good morning.
It's time for a brand new challenge at Cardz4Guyz and as it's almost Father's Day, how appropriate that the new theme is -

FATHER'S DAY

Here's my inspiration for you.

This is a CASE of a card I made a couple of years ago here, my youngest Grandson loved it so I made him another to give to his dad! I changed the sentiments around, used slightly different ones in the background as well as some different coloured card.
Not all the sentiments are from masculine sets, I just picked an assortment that felt right.

After choosing the sentiments, I stamped the base card using Memento Grey Flannel ink, making sure I covered the whole A6 panel, then rifled through my bits for some coloured card strips which I arranged into a rainbow. I then chose the most appropriate sentiment for each strip, some cut using dies, others just with the paper cutter. DAD was cut from black card using dies, as were the stars. My sentiment on the navy strip had to be heat embossed with white EP so that it showed up but all the others were stamped with black ink. All strips were glued flat onto the background.

So that's it from me, looking forward to your Father's Day cards in our gallery. For lots more inspiration check out the rest of the team here.

Color Hues #88

Good afternoon, a new month so a new colour combo from Color Hues.
When I first saw Karen's choice of colours I knew exactly where I was going! The new colours are the colours of a Rugby League team in the UK that my friend absolutely loves, Leeds Rhinos, so I made her this for her birthday back in March.

I bought the MFT stamp set, Birth-Yay, a few years ago and over the years I've made quite a few birthday cards for Jenny, I can't imagine making a card for her that isn't rhino based or blue and yellow at the least!
The sketch for this card is based on one from the MFT site but I changed up the colours from peach and aqua to the yellow and blue. All the different characters were coloured with Copics and then fussy cut out. The die cut circles were coloured with DI, Squeezed Lemonade and Blueprint Sketch and spritzed with a little water and then blotted to give a textured effect.
After adding the inked circles to my base card, I trimmed the over hanging bits off before stamping the sentiment and adding the characters on foam pads.

So where will this colour combo take you?
We'd love to see you in the gallery but if you need more inspiration the rest of the team and our GD have lots of ideas here.
