I can't believe we are into July already, half the year has just whizzed by!
Anyway, 1st of the month means there's a brand new challenge over at Color Hues. Here's my card based on the new colour combo.
With it being July it could only be
Not being American, I didn't go down the 4th of July route but went with this cute lighthouse stamp that is part of a much larger collage stamp from Woodware called Sailing By.
To ensure I didn't get any unwanted stamping, I used a black watercolour brush pen to ink up just the parts of the stamp I needed.
The scene was coloured with Copic markers, pens for the sea and lighthouse and re-inkers and a sponge for the sky. To keep within our rules, I added a fussy cut strip of kraft card edged with grey Copic marker, across the bottom for the lighthouse to sit on. A few strokes from a white gel pen on the water gives the illusion of waves breaking.
To complete, I cut a frame with a couple of Avery Elle pierced rectangle dies, stamped the sentiment and then popped it up over a linen effect A5 card base.
So where will you go with these new colours? We'd love to see what you come up with.

ReplyDeleteSuch a smart way to stretch the use of this particular stamp! It makes for a perfect little focal scene for your card.
ReplyDeleteI love this, Julie! Such a great and calming scene. I love the beach and lighthouses! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThis came out so well Julie and I found it interesting that it is just a piece of a larger stamp. I love the little scene and the way you framed it! Great job with the colors!
ReplyDeleteGreat use of the colours Jules. Your ocean scene with lighthouse is fabulous. Wonderful colouring! xx
ReplyDeleteI love lighthouse images and this is such a lovely scene! I'm awed by the process involved, but it was certainly worth all the time and effort! Despite all the detail, it's such a CAS design thanks to that wonderful white framing.
ReplyDeleteBeing born and raised by the sea, I love seeing lighthouses and I love nautical themed cards. I've only got one lighthouse stamp myself, I could surely do with this one in my stash:) You've made a lovely scene with it and the card is so versatile. Thanks for sharing your artwork with us at Inkspirational.
ReplyDeleteSmitten with your lighthouse scene; perfect for our CH challenge as well as the Maritime theme over at Inkspirational. Thank you for joining us there. My many-years-ago high school English teacher owned a lighthouse Eastern Canada and resided in it during summer holidays. Your images have rekindled fond memories of him...

I just love how you put this card together! From stamping just the lighthouse and placing it on the ground next to those beautiful waters, to the wonderful sky above - it makes a beautifully framed scene for a great birthday card!
