Cogs

Morning, it's time for a new challenge at Cardz4Guyz. This time we would like to see projects on the theme of :-

METAL

Here's my card for your inspiration. I went down the industrial route for my design, combing an EF and some die cut cogs.

To start, I took a panel of white card and inked with some Vintage Photo DOx and a tiny amount of Salvaged Patina before spritzing with water and leaving to dry over night. Once fully dry, I embossed the inked panel with a cog EF and inked over again with Vintage Photo DI this time to darken up some areas. To make it look a bit more like metal cogs, I rubbed over the raised areas with a lump of dried up Inka Gold wax, that I softened with a little water, then buffed with a soft cloth.

To make the card, I made a black A6 base card, added a strip of the embossed panel, a couple of gold strips above and below and a gold heat embossed sentiment. Three 'gold' cogs from my stash complete.

So where will this theme take you? For more inspiration, why not check out the rest of the team here. We'd love to see your takes in our gallery.

Guesting at CAS on Friday

The other week, I won the NATURE challenge at CAS on Friday and today sees me guesting there!
This fortnight their challenge is:-

CIRCLES

I had lots of ideas but as I had to make something quick for my Grandson's teacher I went with this as he loves rainbows!

It's quite a simple design, concentric circles cut using a stacking die set from Avery Elle, some DI for colour and a layered thanks die set from Create a Smile cut from black. All the circle elements were simply glued to the base card and the layered thanks was glued on top.

Please check out the rest of the CAS on Friday team here and then why not join in?

Color Hues #91

Afternoon, as we are mid way through July it's time for a new colour combo from Color Hues.
This time we are going slightly festive with this bold colour duo. Here's my inspiration for you.

It just had to be a Christmas card for me with these colours, in fact I made two because I couldn't decide which to make!
This first card is pretty straightforward, white heat embossed script on white card, stencilled through a holly stencil and mounted on a red base card with just that little bit of sparkle in the strip of glitter paper and a gold sentiment.
The two tone leaves were made by inking first with Mowed Lawn DI then again with Evergreen Bough towards the end of the leaves. Festive Berries DI, what else, for the berries.

This second card was done freehand with some watercolour paint and a some white dimensional accents, framed with an Avery Elle die cut frame and Woodware sentiment.

I made a card using the same technique here if you are interested in the details of my method.

So will you go down the Christmas route or use the colours in your own way, we'd love to see what you do use by linking up into the Color Hues gallery.
Should you need more inspiration why not check out the rest of the DT and our GD here.

It's Your Birth-Yay

Good morning, time for a brand new challenge at Cardz4Guyz.
This time we would like to see your cards on the theme of:-

ANIMAL MAGIC

I still had my MFT Picture Perfect stamp set in my head when I saw the the latest theme so here's what I made.

I made my polaroid frame from a scrap of white card and a couple of dies then stamped the greeting from another MFT set. On another panel I stamped these two cheeky creatures, colouring them with Copics and adding some more for the background.
On an A6 white base card, I inked lightly with a mix of Twisted Citron, Salty Ocean and Peacock Feathers DI before inking through a Uniko stencil with the same colours. To complete, I simply added the pic and frame to my base card.
So where will you go with this theme? As usual we love seeing your makes in the Cardz4Guyz gallery and if you you need more inspiration then why not check out the rest of the team's ideas here.

Color Hues #90

Good afternoon
I can't quite believe it's July already. In the Beech household we've been working up to a big day next week, my son's wedding! Hopefully I've got everything together and there will be no last minute surprises and the weather behaves, looking forward to the lovely Alex joining the Beech clan.

Anyway, amongst all the prep I still have some DT responsibilities and today marks the beginning of a new colour combo from Color Hues. This new pairing reminded me of winter and that although it is July, those Christmas cards need to be made and I have yet to make good my pledge to get my Christmas stash done in good time. So here is one card that will be making it into that stash!

This card is a really simple make, a die cut and a Brusho panel and a sentiment.
The scene was created using a fave Memory Box die and the panel was made with MM paper, Turquoise Brusho Sprinkle it and some cling film. I made lots last year but my only piece left was too blue so I made another but only needed half to go behind the opening so I can use for another project!
I wet the MM paper, added the Brusho and Sprinkle It, then placed some cling film over the top, scrunched it up over the panel and left it to dry overnight.

The Sprinkle It adds sparkle and the cling film pools the Brusho and the end result is a fab textured panel. This pic shows the sparkle a little better.

On a panel of white card, I die cut with the MB die, Calm Countryside, added another snowdrift with a freehand cut piece of white card glued behind, then the Brusho panel was then added behind, the Funky Fossil sentiment stamped in Altenew Aqualicious completes the top panel. To complete I trimmed the panel down and mounted it onto a base card with foam pads.
So where will our new colours take you? The rest of the team have come up with some fab inspiration should you need it.
Looking forward to see your makes in the Color Hues gallery.
