Caseing Karen

Morning all.

Over at Cardz4Galz it's time for a brand new challenge.

This time would like you to -

ADD SOME TEXTURE

There are lots of ways to do that, embossing folders, embellishments, textured ribbon etc.

For mine I kept it very CAS, using my favourite linen textured card, a pleated background and a stitched frame.

I took my inspiration from the Flower challenge where they are asking you to CASE a DT member. I chose Karen as I was intrigued by her background panel. As she did, I inked an acrylic block with DI and dragged it down the white card panel before folding it to get the pleated effect. The colour looks a little bleached out here but is much more textured in real life! The only suitable flower die I had was this Memory Box poppy one which I trimmed down and popped it between the panel and a stitched frame. The sentiment was from Altenew's Extra Special set.

Port Sunlight Goodies

Hi and welcome to a late night scheduled post to announce the start of a brand new challenge over at ATSM.

This week it is our Anything Goes challenge.

Here is my inspiration card for you based on a couple of ongoing challenges.

I used a couple of my recent purchases from my trip to the stamping festival at Port Sunlight, from Uniko and Altenew. I was rather peeved at first when the one stall I really wanted to visit was absent due to illness but I did find a fab new one to me where I managed to get a couple of Altenew sets and some dies so it wasn't all bad! I managed a sneek peek at the new release from Uniko before I left home, so Bev was next on my list to visit. I bought a couple of background stamps and the lovely lily  set but for this decided to use the Adore You for the flowers and the Halftone Background Blocks. 

I stamped the background in Memento London Fog and stamped and embossed in white on vellum and white card the leaves and flowers. The flowers I coloured with my Zig pens but I left the leaves plain before fussy cutting them out and arranging over the panel. The sentiment is from another PS purchase Altenew's Extra Special stamped in the same grey and embossed in clear EP on a little strip and placed under the flowers.

Go Wild!

Good morning and welcome. 

The week has whizzed by and it's time for a brand new challenge over at Cardz4Guyz. This is the last of our weekly challenges for the moment as we are going two weekly over the summer period. 

This week we would like to see your projects on the theme of 

JUNGLE FUN

Here is my card for your inspiration.

For this my starting point was a stamp set I got free with Papercraft Essentials a couple of months back.

I started by stamping out a couple of the vines in two shades of green and the cheeky monkey, which I coloured with Copics and fussy cut them out. The greenery I stamped, coloured with Copics and fussy cut from a variety of stamps in the stash and added some die cuts from green card scraps as well. The banner was stamped with a couple of stamps from the set too.

To assemble I started by embossing a panel of kraft card, then inked a panel with Broken China DI and a cloud mask to suggest sky and die cut a frame from green, assembling the foliage on top followed by the banner.

Anything Goes

Glorious Gardenia

Good evening folks.
I'm here late evening here to announce the start of the latest challenge over at HLS Anything Goes with Dies.
Here is my card using one of my very favourite dies, MB's Glorious Gardenia.



Not  sure why I like it so much but it is my go to flower die. I've used it in all sorts of different ways, so perhaps it's because it so versatile! I only bought the outline die so The background was made by drawing around the leftover from the die cut, then fussy cutting it out of plain white card.
To get the colour on the die, I used my Zig brush pens to wash in some colour onto the petals with some shades of pink then the same with greens onto the leaves. The center of the flowers were glued to the base, leaving the leaves to hover over the backing.
On a separate white panel I washed some more of the pink colour in the shape of the design along with some splatter. A couple of sprigs of die cut Fresh Foliage and Grove Branch completed the sprig. A silver embossed tag from LOTV was slipped under the edge of the sprig and the trimmed panel attached to the base card.

Vintage Motor

Good morning folks.
Hope you all had a fab BH weekend.
The weather wasn't particularly BH friendly so I spent some time in the craftroom creating before trying to spot our Son whilst watching the Tour de Yorkshire cycle race. The race was due to pass by the village where we used to live and our son still does, so it was fun to try and spot the landmarks as the peloton whizzed by. Although he told us where he was standing we couldn't spot him, even on playback! The scenery was fab though and so were the crowds, fabulous to see the tour being so well supported. Shame the commentators hadn't been given the correct pronunciation of some of the place names, Holmfirth has a silent 'L'. It does sound funny when they give the climbs the prefix Cote de ... as well.

Anyway I managed to cobble together a card between ad breaks for this week's challenge at Cardz4Guyz.

INSPIRED BY A FILM, BOOK or PIECE of MUSIC

However you must say how you are inspired in your post.

I had a look through my stash of stamps to see what came to mind first settling on this

 NEBUS stamp set from LOTV. I think I bought it from Port Sunlight this time last year and this is it's first inking! I don't think they're are there this year though, they seem to be cutting back on shows and going digital, less stress I would think. It reminded me of the film 'Genevieve' about the vintage London to Brighton car rally. Genevieve being the name of the car!

I used a Sketch Saturday layout that I've used before and some map paper from an old road atlas. SATNAVs may be popular but I love an old fashioned map to look at, always have, in fact a friend used to call me JulieNAV when we went out in her car!

I started by cutting out the circles with a variety of dies for my top panel and then stamped the images with black Memento and embossing with clear EP. As I had used EP I decided to use my Zig Markers to colour the images for a change, adding a few white hi lights with a gel pen. After fussy cutting the images I glued the map paper onto my base card and popped my top panel up on pads. The images were then glued flat on the map paper. I also added some doodled borders to frame the apertures and added a sentiment from the same set.
