Fun in the Sun

Hi, it's time for a brand new challenge over at ATSM. Here is my inspiration for you.

This week our theme is ........

So your entry must be something where the focus is handmade marks, so no pre-coloured or die cut images please. I used ink for the background and Copics to colour but the choice is all down to you!

My starting point was the challenge at Less is More, OL and stripes, then I saw the challenge at Seize the Birthday was also stripes and that ATCAS wanted cards on the theme of summertime! So this cute little boy playing in the surf in his striped T shirt was just the job.
I started by embossing a MFT stitched rectangle into a plain white base card to frame my scene, then stamped the Molly Bloom little boy. I stamped him again onto a post it and fussy cut it to make a mask and used it to cover the stamped image whilst I inked in the beach and sea with DI in Salty Ocean and Tea Dye. After removing the mask, I coloured the little chap with Copics, adding some shadow on the sand with one too. The foam was made by drawing with a Versamark pen and using some white EP and heat embossing, as well as some white gel pen. The sentiments from LOTV, were stamped in black.
OK, that's it from me but please check out the rest of the DT here and then join in!

  1. What a fun card Jules and just right for this time of year. You have coloured the boy beautifully and I love the way you created the foam on the sand and sea.

  2. Totally FAB-u-LOUS! Gr8 colouring too

  3. I just had to smile when I saw this cute guy Julie. I can see him getting wet from the foam coming so close. Love the soft white breaks behind him. Beautiful colouring. Not quite beach weather here but something to look forward to although our winter has been really mild (so far)

  4. Great card with that fun image. Love your coloring. Thanks for sharing with us at Seize the Birthday.

  9. Wonderful techniques here! The dry embossed frame adds a lot of interest and you did great job masking your image and creating such an interesting background. Wonderful coloring too! Thanks for joining us at Less Is More!
