Merry Christmas

Moorning.
Back again to announce the start of a brand new challenge over at Cardz4Guyz.
This week we are giving you the opportunity to get ahead with your Christmas cards as our theme is -

Oh, Christmas Tree

I had a look through my stash and sadly my trees were a tad small for center stage!
However I had spotted a fab card by my STAMPlorations teamie Shirley here and thought I would have a go as it looked such a great idea. Here is the result.

Shirley used a stencil, but the only one I had wasn't quite right so as I had been watching some watercolour videos I went with that.
On some mixed Media paper, I drew a spruce tree shape with a large round paintbrush and clear water, making sure there was plenty, then sprinkled some Emerald green Infusion ink crystals over the painted area with a small, stiff brush and watched the magic. If you look really closely you can still see where some of the crystals remained on the not so damp paper!  I tried to leave some white space for 'the birds to fly through' as my old art tutor used to say. I think he meant it allowed you to get some sense of depth and form that you don't get with a solid wash. A watery wash of  Prussian Blue that was already in my palette gave the suggestion of a snowy bank. A simple sentiment from Uniko completed the die cut panel. When fully dry I mounted it flat on a white base card.

For more inspiration, please check out the rest of the DT, then why not join us.

I'd like to join in over at -

V is for vertical (This tree surely fits the bill!)
