Mono printing with Stencils at Uniko

Morning all, hope I find you well.
I'm over on the Uniko blog with a few cards using stencils and mono-printing.
I'd never tried this before but after watching the fab Jennifer McGuire I had a go and ended up with two fun panels.
The base panel was inked with Picked Raspberry and Salty Ocean DI before being spritzed with water and sandwiched with my stencil and a plain white card panel.
I love the texture you get with this technique. Here are a few cards I made.
This first card uses the layout from Freshly Made Sketches and a strip of the darker of my two panels, slipped behind textured lined panels. A simple stamped, uncoloured small peony bloom from Pure Florals - Peony keeps it simple, uncoloured so that the panel shines, the sentiment is from Simply Said Blocks.
For the second card I used a panel die cut from the paler print and the same bloom, again not coloured so as not to distract from the background. This time the sentiment from the peony set is stamped on matching linen cardstock.

My final card uses a slightly different technique to create the background. Instead of a piece of white card I added a cut down baby wipe over the stencil in the sandwich and ran it through a few times in the die cut machine as before. This time I rang the changes and used the Fun Flower stencil. The damp baby wipe lifts away the ink where it peeks through the stencil to leave this soft effect. The panel was inked with Tumbled Glass DI this time.

I really enjoyed playing around with my stencils and new techniques, further details can be found over on the Uniko blog.

Uniko Challenge, Meadow Birthday

Morning all.
It was a busy week for the Uniko DT last week but after a bit of a chill session and a 'bit' of housework, I'm back with a card to announce the new challenge over at Uniko.

The design was based on this rather appropriate photo.

I started by creating a background to echo the pattern on the suitcase with the Stylised Flower stencil and some Twisted Citron DOx on a die cut panel of white card.
The next step was to cut an oval of black card and stamp and emboss the greeting from Birthday Sentiments. To frame it I stamped and cut out two of the small sprays from Originally Organic Additions and some of the flowers. I wanted to create an even spray so not satisfied with using the same image I mirror stamped two more onto previously die cut sprays.
If you are not familiar with mirror stamping, all it is is stamping first onto a larger stamp then use this image to create a mirror image by stamping the image onto card. The resultant image is a little paler than the original but a fine liner soon sorts that out! There's lots of videos around such as herehere and here that explain the process.
I coloured the sprays with Copics using the colours from The Paper Players as close as possible and completed the wreath around the oval.

So are you ready to play along?
Well, just in case you need some more incentive to play along with the challenge here are the details of the prizes.

Even More Stencil Fun

Morning, a very busy week here in the craft room with more inspiration using the new May release from Uniko.
First off the rank is this pink delight.

This uses the new Stylized Floral stencil and Simply Said Blocks II plus the older but goody Pure Florals Cosmos.
I channelled my inner Jennifer McGuire again for this card using the Rotating Stencil Technique.
I started with a panel of pink card inked with Picked Raspberry DOx, then rotated and the process repeated. Placing the stencil over the inked panel again, I inked through with white pigment ink.
Using an Avery Elle die, I cut the angled panel of white linen effect card and popped it over the inked panel. The sentiment was stamped with the same DOx on a strip of white card and glued in place. I decided it looked a little too spartan so added the blooms, coloured with Copics and fussy cut.

My second card uses the Confetti stencil, bigger brother to the stamp released last year. Just to prove that stencils are just as useful as stamps, if not more so I made this.

On a panel of white card, I attached the stencil with masking tape and using a small Versamark pad, I inked through it, then after carefully removing the stencil heat embossed the card with white EP.
Using diluted DI in a rainbow of colours, I washed in the rainbow effect. When completely dry I die cut a rectangle from the panel and buffed up the surface with a dry babywipe.
I didn't want to detract from the panel so added some white die cut balloons and another sentiment form Simply Said blocks II, I can see this getting a lot of use, this time heat embossed in silver. I used the layout from the girls at Less is More to place them.
So that's it from me for the moment, back tomorrow with more inspiration.

There's even more  inspiration from the rest of the team.
