More than one fold

Morning.
It's Tuesday and time for a new challenge from Cardz4Guyz.
This week we would like to see masculine cards made using:-

FANCY FOLDS
(more than 1 fold)

Now as many will know this isn't my style but I had a bit of head scratch and came up with this card using a mix of ancient free DP and an LOTV image.

To start I made my base by scoring a panel of white card 4 times to create the mountain and valley format. On a separate piece of matching card I die cut the background panel and then used the same die to draw around the die on the inside over some DP of a crowd, that came in a Making Cards Cards for Men mag over 10 years ago!! When cut out freehand and glued to the panel, it creates a neat border.
In the same mag was some grass DP which I edged with a grass punch, MS, and then glued to the front of the valley sides. The crowd was then added to the back and a scrap panel of card was added as an easel to give extra stability.

You can see a little better what I mean here.
The cute footballer, LOTV, was coloured with Copics then fussy cut and placed on the middle mountain fold. A sentiment, hot foiled in gold, was added to complete.

So where will this challenge take you?
For more inspiration please check out the rest of the DT here.

Digi or Physical stamp
They both have their place, you can do different things with both, horses for courses. Here I've used Digi as I enlarged the image to fit the scene. That's the real advantage, sizing up or down, oh and mirror stamping is soo much easier, not that I've done that!

Good morning!
It's finally here, release day for the fab new release from Uniko.
As is tradition we are having a blog hop and giveaway where you can win a £25 eGift certificate simply by leaving some love on the BAs and Uniko blog!
So without further ado here is the full release in all it's glory!

First off is the fab new MCM Birthday.

This card uses the new MCM Birthday along with MCM Christmas and a few from other older sets to create this masculine card.
Blue for a male recipient or change the colours for a more girlie take!

 Mid Century Modern Birthday £11.50
Copyright  Uniko Ltd 2012 - To Date

Next is a card using MCM Everyday Sentiments and BB MOD Builder.

If you remember yesterday's card this is another piece of the same panel but I played around with the background, bleaching out some of the cells, then die cutting the panel to fill the openings. Bold white on black embossed sentiments complete.

Mid Century Modern Everyday Sentiments £6.50

This card has BB MOD Builder front and center, with a little help from Hello Lovely and Birthday Sentiments.

On a panel of white card, I stamped the BB MOD Builder in a very pale ink, Altenew Limestone I think, then coloured each cell with Copics in a rainbow effect. The panel was trimmed and the sentiment added. Next I stamped the large floral image across each corner of my A6 base card in black and added the rainbow panel on pads.

Background Block MOD Builder £6.50

Finally I played around with the new Ink and Flip stencil and Bokeh Hearts stencil.

I used the more open stencil as a mask whilst I inked the Bokeh Hearts then the smaller one for the Geometric Heart element. I used a couple of DIs for this, Kitsch Flamingo and Picked Raspberry. As it's so busy, I left off a sentiment.

So that's it. What do you think? There's lots more up on the BA's blogs for you to explore but don't forget to leave some love before you go for your chance to win. Bev will be selecting someone from all comments to win the prize!

Introducing... Background Blocks MOD Builder

Morning all, it's the final day of our new release introductions at Uniko. Today we are focusing on a new addition to the background blocks stable, Background Blocks, MOD Builder.
You may recognise the pattern from one of Bev's earlier released stencils MOD Builder stencil.
Here's what I came up with using it.

On a panel of white card, I inked a rainbow of colours using DI inks, then stamped the block with matching ink over the top. I decided to make a slimline card as my inked panel was slightly too large for a standard A6 without loosing the rainbow effect. The frame was cut from white and the panel placed under, after stamping and heat embossing in white the sentiment from Mid Century Modern Birthday set.
So what do you think? There's lots more inspiration on the BA's blogs here.

I'll be back tomorrow for the full release day BA blog hop and GIVEAWAY!!

Color Hues #81, Dandelion Clocks

Afternoon. I'm back with my card for the brand new colour duo from Color Hues. This time we've gone for a pastel look with this new pairing. Here's my take.

It took me quite a few attempts to get a good photo of this card and even then the shimmer on the wings have eluded the camera! Anyway here is another from my to colour box, using another image stamped on my friends Di's visit a few years ago. This is another LOTV image called Dandelion Clocks. Do you remember blowing the seeds off a dandelion and counting off the hours as you blew the little parachute seeds off?
So after colouring with Copics, a few from the BG group, 10,11 and 34 for the mint and three from the V group, 12, 15 and 18 for the lilac. Don't know what possessed me to use Copics as these two colours are the least well covered by the Copic range. Luckily I remembered I had some NitWits DP that also fit the bill! The wings were coloured with the same BG group but I added a couple of layers of Wink of Stella to add some extra sparkle to her wings.
As I was rootling through the EFs, I also found a Dandelion Clock EF that was the perfect backdrop, think it could be either a DoCrafts or a Hobbycrafts make. My little sentiment is from my early days of crafting, Molly Bloom, no longer in business.
As to assembly, I fussy cut the fairy out, added my DP to an A6 note card and edged the DP with a thin strip and a die cut scalloped edge from card coloured with V15, a great way to link your image to your background and not spend hours looking for just the right colour!! My white embossed panel square was added with pads, then the sentiment, finally the image, again on pads.

So where will these new colours take you? We'd love to see your takes in the gallery.
Should you need more inspiration there's always the rest of the DT and our GD to help here.

Week 726 Add Some Sparkle

Mid Century Modern Everyday Sentiments

Good morning, it's day 3 of the 12th Birthday release from Uniko.
Today we introduce an addition to our sentiment stamps, a smaller version of our MCM Birthday from yesterday. You might recognise the font from this card. It also matches with the Christmas MCM set previously released. Here I've just used one of the sentiments in a graphic style card.

The inspiration was a card I saw using strips of colour to create a pattern. Instead of strips, I used the stamp to create squares in different colours, Altenew's Bamboo, Galactic Stream and Turquoise. Once my panel was covered, I added it at an angle across the white base card. The Fabulous You was stamped onto a panel inked to match with white EP and a couple of strips were also added above and below.

That's all for today but I'll be back tomorrow with the final introduction before the big release.
In the meantime why not check out the rest of the team's ideas.

Introducing... Mid Century Modern Birthday

Good morning and welcome to day 2 of the new Uniko release introductions.
Today we are focusing on Mid Century Modern Birthday. Here's my take.

The set comprises of a large sentiment, smaller MCM additions and a few of present stamps along with ribbon and bows. The pressies on the release logo are how Bev imagined them, but I went slightly off piste with my watercolour take.

Using my Misti, I stamped the solid pressies first with plain water then again with DI onto MM paper. The ink spreads into the water to give a watercolour look without the hassle! To make the top middle pressie, I used the solid square from BB Squares. When the ink was dry, I added some pattern with a white gel pen and some doodled strings with a black fine liner. I liked the clean look so did not add any sentiment.

Here's a second card using the parcels again but this time simply stamped using DI and the ribbons similarly before fussy cutting each element out.

Just to show how well it combines with other sets I've used the sentiment from Birthday sentiments instead of the one from the set. A few embossed stars and a few sequins complete.

So that's it from me, but why not check out the rest of the team for their takes.

I'll be back tomorrow with anther introduction from the new 12th Birthday Release from Uniko.

Happy Valentine's Day - Introducing... Ink & Flip Geometric Heart Layering Stencil

We start off the introductions for the Uniko birthday release with another of Bev's Ink and Flip stencils.
This time as it's Valentine's Day she's designed a heart shaped one. Here's my take.

It is a two part stencil, one to create a background and one to create this fractured heart pattern.
To begin I inked up the first side of the stencil with Abandoned Coral DOx then wiped it clean, flipped it over and repeated this time using Worn Lipstick DOx. The fracture pattern gives the heart a sense of dimension, so I went one further and decided to use some very old embossing tools and a mat to give the heart a padded look. I started by placing the other part of the stencil over the inked heart and using a fine ball tool, drew around the heart, then flipping over to repeat the process. Once I had the outline, I flipped the inked panel over and using a couple of large ball tools and the mat, raised up the heart shape. A smaller heart shape cut from white fun foam was glued behind the heart before the panel was added to an A6 base card.

You can see the end result a little better here.
A simple Sentiment Blocks sentiment stamped with Abandoned Coral on white and trimmed down complete.
That's all from me for today but pop back tomorrow for another release intro.
In the mean time why not check out the rest of the girls ideas here.

Happy Birthday Uniko, 12 Today and a Party!

Good morning folks.
Today we are celebrating Uniko's 12th Birthday with a birthday blog hop and giveaway!
Bev and the BAs are sharing birthday cards for your inspiration.
Here's mine.

When the MOD Background Builder stencil was released last year I had lots of ideas buzzing around in my head and this was one of them, to use the small additional stencil elements to create an all over background style card. I wasn't too sure of of the accuracy of my stencil placement, so went with a fussy cut design using just the two triple corner elements.

The trio of petal shapes were used to create both the green leaves as well as the flowers, using just two for the leaves and adding an extra for the flowers. The stamens were added in the same way using Seedless Preserve over Kitsch Flamingo DI. The leaflets were initially inked in Twisted Citron DI, then again with Mowed Lawn DI towards the bottom. After fussy cutting the elements, I arranged them onto an A6 panel of white card, adding flower centers with a yellow dot stamped from Wonderful Day and die cut with the small circle die in Big n Bold Happy!
I fussy cut the stamped sentiment made from Birthday Sentiments and You Are Sentiments Outlined, placing them flat over the background panel..

So all you have to do now, is link up your own birthday card to the Uniko blog for a chance to win a fabulous prize of a 25£ e gift voucher to spend in store!

You Make the World Wonderful, Take 2!

Morning all.
As it's Tuesday it must mean that it's time for a new challenge at Cardz4Guyz. This time Helen has chosen the theme of:-

LOVE

I know it's nearly Valentines Day for those romantics out there but the OH and I don't do Valentine's Day. I'm not saying he isn't romantic, we have been married over 45 years, but we just don't do the flowers and card thing. Last time he bought me flowers, I was so shocked, I asked him what he'd done wrong!!
Anyway I have made this not too shmaltzy card using the same LOTV sentiment I used for the Color Hues card and their cute James the bear with Heart that I stamped when my friend Di came to visit, I think. He was another image languishing in the to colour box!

After colouring with Copics an fussy cutting James out, I die cut a circle from some linen effect white card and then a slightly larger circle from the same but used the wrong or plain side to stamp the sentiment in Memento Gray Flannel. The panel was trimmed to leave a border on the A6 note card, sentiment added behind the opening and the front added with foam tape. James was placed to one side.

I think this card could be used for anniversaries or Valentine's Day but where will the theme take you? As always we love to see your takes in the gallery here. You'll also find more masculine 'LOVE' inspiration there too.
