Make your mark

Good morning fellow crafters and welcome.
As it's Tuesday it must be time for a new challenge at Cardz4Guyz where we aim to show that making cards for the men in your life isn't as difficult as you think!
This week the choice of theme was mine and I chose a simple one -

MAKE YOUR MARK

OK, your task should you choose to take it, is to create a masculine project that is mainly made by your marks, so no pre-coloured images this week I'm afraid. So stamp, colour with any medium you like, get the thread out but YOU are making the marks!
Here is my inspiration for you.

My inspiration for this card was a couple of challenges, always a good starting point for me.
Over at ATCAS and The Male Room the theme is Birds and AYLI is land or sea, so I thought of my Woodware stamp Sailing By. I love the little sea gull on the post!
As this is quite a large stamp I had to mask off the rest of image to stamp the section I wanted onto the base card. I coloured the image with Copics then wanted to set the seagull up on pads but also frame the image, so I masked of the rest of the stamp and inked up the bird then stamped it on an other square piece of card. I extended the post with a bit of freehand drawing then fussy cut the bird and post but left the bottom edge attatched to the card. I then cut a window with a square die ensuring that the post was on the other side of the die before I cut it.
I could then work out where I wanted the top panel and cut it to size, coloured the bird and post and popped the top panel up on pads after stamping the greeting.
OK, that's about it, pop over and check out the rest of the DT's  and GD's inspiration.
Don't forget if you fancy a GD spot for a month just tag GD on the end of your entry.

I would like to join in at -
The Male Room - Birds
As you like it Challenge - Favourite Land or Sea
I never really thought about it before, but since we moved to the countryside it is good to go to the coast, walk on the beach with the wind in your hair and the sun on your face and the waves crashing on the beach. I love watching my Grandson playing on the beach also. It was always a great game to be the first one to spot the sea when we went away when I was a kid!

Thanks for stopping by, see you soon.

SEA

Afternoon all.
I hope I find you well. The weather has just spoilt what was up to 3o'clock a really gorgeous autumnal day by a heavy rain shower. So much rain has fallen these last couple of days that the yard is a boating lake and the soil hubby was moving is so sodden its not worth working with. Still it pales into insignificance with the inconvenience my son is experiencing. His gas supply failed sometime on Thursday and has been without heat or hot water since. Apparently, the old spur from the main to the street has corroded and has to be replaced. I'm just pleased that the boiler sensed the drop in pressure so he knew something was wrong and the leak was discovered in time. Isn't technology great?

Anyway I'm here to share a card for this week's challenge over at CASology. I haven't played over there for a while so was keen to join in but puzzled as to what I could do with the cue word of SEA.
Then I remembered my Woodware 'Sailing by' stamp set but how to go about it. That was earlier in the week and it was only yesterday while sorting through my dies I came across my MB large circle burst and thought porthole. I've used this versatile die in a couple of different ways before (here and  here) and I'm sure I've seen it used as a frame before but where I've no idea, its age you know! I think it softens the image and is not as stark as a simple circle die.

I coloured the image using Copics then mounted the diecut on pads to frame the image.

Thanks for popping around, see you back soon.

Sailing By

Good morning all.
Tuesdays are busy for posts for the moment, this time it's a new challenge over at Cardz4Guyz. This week Helen is in charge of the new theme which is:-

NAUTICAL

We want to see your boats and sailing related creations, cards, pictures etc..

Box cards are all the rage at the moment so why buck the trend, here is my inspiration for the theme using Woodware's - Sailing By.

The papers are from NitWits Coastal collection and I used Copics to colour the images.
I cut the boats out and mounted them on strips which I cut freehand to look like waves and then inked with Faded Jeans DI.
OK, so now it's your turn to dazzle us with your creations. Pop across to see what the rest of the wonderful DT have produced.
I shall enter it in the following challenges:-
Allsorts - Fancy Folds
Creative Inspirations - Beside the Seaside

Don't forget there is still time to join the challenge over at Fantasy Stampers - Numbered Birthday
Bye for now.
