Clive is 50

Good morning all.
Today sees the start of an other new challenge over at Cards4Guyz.
This week our theme is -

SPEED

So, I had quite a few ideas about this topic but in the end decided to share a card that I made for a friend of my daughter's, whose husband Clive, was going to be 50.

She wanted a card that showed a green mini with a monochrome union flag on the roof. Just like his real car! I immediately knew that the MFT car die would be just the thing, so using some glossy green cardstock and some other scraps, I got a' die cutting!
Making the car was the easy part but how to make an interesting card? In the end I used a street sign theme, making a 50mph sign and directional name ( there is a place Clive not far from us) die cut with more MFT dies. The road was cut from charcoal grey card and I added some free cut white lines. Some NitWits papers complete the scene.

OK, that's about it from me. Please check out the rest of the team for more great inspiration and then why not join in this week?

Easter Bunny's on his way

Good morning all.
I can't believe that a fortnight has gone by since I was announcing the last challenge at Fantasy Stampers but here I am again with a new challenge announcement.
This time our theme is -

EASTER PARADE

Here is my card for your inspiration.

I've used a LOTV stamp called Umbrella Bunny which is sadly discontinued. It is great that the ladies at LOTV have brought back some of my favourites but unfortunately not this one.
The colours for this card are from the Colour Throwdown palette, colouring the bunny with Copics before fussy cutting him and some scraps from the box. The greeting is also LOTV.
Inside it says
The Easter Bunny is coming your way!

The orange border was punched using a SU edge punch and a scrap of bazzil card, the DPs are NitWits and some I've had for an absolute age so no idea what it is!
So that's it from me. Please check out the rest of the team for more fab ideas, then why not join us. Just make sure you use a good old fashioned stamp as your focal point!

Spring

Now for a little bit of trumpet blowing.
Over Christmas I bought a copy of Quick Cards and there was a free gift of a Tiddlyinks stamp and embossing folder. They were so cute I had to have a play and then I sent it off to the mag and they wrote back to say they wanted to feature it in their March issue. Whoop whoop!
Here is the page with my card

A gift for your birthday

Afternoon all.
It's been a gorgeous spring day here, I even ventured to the local nursery in search of a little bit of colour to add to my pots, last years polyanthus are looking a bit sad.
I've had this card in the making since last weekend but with one thing and another I didn't get around to finishing it.
So without further ado here it is.

This card is influenced by the challenges at ATCAS - Gift and the sketch at CAS on Sunday.
When I saw the theme I knew straight away which stamp I was going to use. It's from a Do Crafts set I picked up at The Range a couple of months back. There are some fab bear stamps in the set, I used another one here just after Christmas. I used a scrap of DP from  NitWits that has been in the bits box for ages and picked out a couple of colours to use on the parcel. Typically I discovered that one of the Copics I used was running out and I'd only just sent of an order for some refils! Anyway I just about made it!

Paper Pieced Landscape

Good morning all.
So much for bright blue skies, a warm front means grey skies and rain again!
Over at Cardz4Guyz our latest challenge for you is to make a project that uses

PAPER PIECING

For my card I took inspiration from those little lambs outside the window along with a sketch over at MFT Challenges.

I used paper piecing to create the little landscape on the tag, using snippets of green DP and some NitWits sky DP. The little lambs are from a MFT set, Ewe are the Best. For the background I wanted something subtle but more than leaving it white so with a new challenge in mind, I washed in some DI in a watercolour effect and popped up the tag on top. CAS Mix Up is a new challenge started by my friend Loll (Stamping with Loll) and Bonnie (Stamping with Klass) for CAS cards with a mixed media twist..
The cute little trees and hillside stamp are also from the same MFT set and the paper patterns used reminds me of the picture at Card Concept. I was a bit scissor happy and chopped off both sides of the sentiment banner instead of just the right hand side after sticking it over the tag! The little lambs were stamped, coloured with Copics, then fussy cut. The middle one is actually a mirror stamp, where I stamped the image onto a clean acrylic block then took a print from that so that he is looking the other way.

OK, that's about it. For more ideas on the topic of paper piecing check out the rest of the DT and then why not join us this week, we'd love to see your projects.

Here is another lamb photo taken the other morning.

Mother of Pearl meets Citrus

Good morning and what a morning it is.
The sun is out and the sky is blue even if there is still a chill in the air.
We have just taken delivery of another load of ewes and lambs from the sheds. We are into the 70's now so about halfway with the ones we had here before. The lambs love the sun on their backs and find any hollowthat keeps them in it and out of the wind. Others start playing king of the castle on the earth mounded up from clearing out the old cowshed ready for my veg plot!
Anyway that means spring is definitely on it's way!

So to celebrate I made this bright springlike card.

Over at Less is More the colour challenge is Citrus and HLS CAS want to see faux mother of pearl and Time Out are celebrating Spring, so this was designed to fit in their requirements. After a few false starts with the faux mother of pearl technique I managed to make a couple of panels. My first attempt used frosted paint but I don't think it was dry enough as the resist didn't work, but I persevered this time using DecoArt Paper Effects white pearl paint which I had in my stash unused. Think I bought it when I was making some canvases for the living room but didn't use. It dries much quicker so I was able to ink it up with a mix of Squeezed Lemonade and Mown Lawn DI. Buoyed up with this success, I found the other uninked piece from the earlier attempt and added Squeezed Lemonade and Spiced Marmalade to either end and that worked too!
The green panel I used for the back of the panel and the other I used to punch some yellow flowers and die cut some tiny centers from the orange. I made the frame by cutting out an extended rectangle then trimmed to make a border, adding SU die cut leaves from the same card as the base. The overall effect is very springlike I think.
