You are Amazing

Good morning all.
Winter seems a little closer after these last few days. Al has been stacking logs and lighting the log burner the last few nights and Max has been very reluctant to stay out for very long at all on his last outing before bed!
Anyway down to business, it's time for a new challenge over at Cardz4Galz.
This week we want to see your creations that are -

PINK and PEARLY

A very girly topic and super appropriate as October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. This is a subject close to my heart, having had a couple of brushes with it over the last 20 years. So I made this card to say to all BC suffers and survivors YOU are AMAZING!

The inspiration for the layout is the challenge over at CAS(E) this Sketch, think I will just get there in time and the sentiment fits well with the cue word 'YOU' at CASology.

I used some Inka Gold wax to make the background and butterflies. My lovely friend Loll (Stamping with Loll), got me into this but I was having some problems using it at first so she gave me some advise and sent me some mixed media paper to play with, thank you.
However, I have experimented with some Daler and Rowney Aauafine 300gms HP w/c paper and that works fine but not as well as the MM paper which I haven't managed to source yet.
Anyway here's how I went about making the card.
I didn't have any pink Inka Gold so after putting some silver on my craft mat I dropped in some Picked Raspberry DI and spritzed them both with water and used a bit of cut n dry foam to mix, then smooshed the w/c paper over it to pick up the colour. Left to dry the paper has a wonderful pearly marbled finished. Hope you can see it in the photo.
The central panel was cut away from the pink and replaced with a white one using a MFT die and the butterflies were punched using an ancient punch of unknown origin!
The greeting from Stampin Up 'Painted Petals', thanks Di, was stamped in the same DI then embossed with fine clear EP. Pearls from the stash.

OK, sorry that was a bit long winded but there you have it!

True North

Hi and welcome to a mini blog hop to announce another stamp release for STAMPlorations.
This time it's a set by our very talented leader Shery.
Here is my card

and this is the complete set.

When I first received the set I immediately thought of portholes and it was an easy design to come up with.
I stamped the lighthouse from the set on a square of white card then masked it off before adding the sunset/sunrise using DIs. After completing the sky I removed the mask and used Copics to colour the lighthouse and on an other panel of white card I stamped some wood effect in Weathered Wood DI. An aperture was then cut in the stamped wood grain panel and to reflect the brass style portholes of old ships, I made one using diecuts. This was then placed over the aperture and glued down.
I thought the scene needed something else so added a few sea birds circling with a black fine liner.
I stamped one of the sentiments onto a strip of card and attached it to the bottom left of the top panel.

So this is how the mini release hop works:

Guitar Man

Good Morning all, hope I find you well.
It's Tuesday, it's 9 o'clock so it must be time for a new challenge over at Cardz4Guyz.
This week we want to see your projects for the men in your life, based on the theme,

YOU ROCK

Now it just so happens that while I was browsing the shelves prior to a class the other day I came across the perfect stamp for this challenge by Wooodware. Here it is on my DT card!

I used the sketch from Sketch Saturday and the colours from The Paper Players. The papers are from my stash and I coloured the image using Copics, the red twine was from the stash also. I drew the sentiment freehand using a fine liner.
As Nich took some more cards for Ben's party stash, I need to replenish the supply, so this will be one added to my stock!
For more inspiration please check out the rest of the DT and don't forget if you would like to try your hand as a Guest Designer don't forget to add GDT after your name.

Rock a bye baby

Good morning. It's double post Tuesday as it's time to announce a new challenge over at Cards und More.
This week our theme is:-

BABY

We are sponsored by a Day for Daisies
Here's my card using one of their images, Babe in a Basket.

I printed out the image before colouring with Copics and fussy cutting. I embossed a panel of white card with a Cuttlebug Baby Words folder before trimming and mounting on pads over a white base card. I wanted to keep the colour gender neutral so went with yellow for either a boy or girl. As my yellow ribbon was a little thin for what I wanted, I coloured some wide white with the same Copic pen before tieing a bow around the top of the image.

Check out the rest of the DT's fab inspiration projects and join us. Our sponsor
are offering a 12$ voucher to the winner chosen at random.

Punchkins

Afternoon. Just a quick post to share a card I made for a couple of challenges out there.

I was mainly influenced by the photos at The Card Concept (Clean and Layered?) and Fusion and as it is pretty CAS it also fits with the challenge over at AAA.
I used the technique I found on you tube for making the pumpkins (see technique page) last year so thought I would give it a go. I kept the colours neutral as befits the CC photo by using a textured white card and three different dies, a bit of foliage left from another project and a scrap of ribbon for the stalks. The edges of the die cut shapes were inked with Di weathered wood then assembled into the pumpkins. The background of the wood was made using a Crafters Companion EF and the Thanks is a couple of Spellbinders Sentiments Thank You and Congratulations, as I wanted to have the phrase thanks.
