Thirty

Good morning everyone.
As it's Tuesday it means a new challenge over at Cardz4Guyz, where we aim to show you that making masculine cards are easier than you think!
This week we want to see your projects based on the theme of a -

NUMBERED BIRTHDAY

When I saw this it was a no brainer as, as I've said before, my son is turning 30 and so are his friends!
So here is my card.

This is a card that my son asked me to make for his best friend and childminder's son!
He'd seen another box card I'd made and asked for one for Ben's birthday.
I used a red, white and blue theme and the explosion set from Uniko and some MFT balloon dies coloured with Copics.
I coloured the balloons with Copics to match the fussy cut explosion stamps stamped in shades of red and blue. The 30 was cut in holographic card and the name out of white scraps and coloured to match. The panels were cut to size then embossed using a Cuttlebug embossing folder-  Happy Birthday. The balloons were stuck to strips of acetate and then these were glued onto strips of red card across the opening of the box. I added a few strings and bows to the balloons with linen thread.

OK, now it's over to you. Check out what fab inspiration the rest of the DT have made and join us.

I'm going to join in the fun over at:-

Watercolour flowers

Afternoon folks.
Another month has flown by so it's time to announce the new challenge over at STAMPlorations.
Regulars participants will realise that we have changed the format for our challenges, no new sketch on Monday! Anyway here is my card to announce the latest challenge.

Can you guess this month's theme, well we are mixing things up you can choose to follow either our theme of

or the sketch!

or as I did, both! You can now enter up to SIX times and as before STAMPloration stamps are not essential, but it would be nice :) .

To make my card I stamped the flowers to match the sketch in Weathered Wood DI then used a mixture of green and blue DI's to wash in the background before going back in to add detail on the flowers. Let the background wash dry or you will get bleeding as I did the first time! If you want a soft effect then it doesn't matter!

OK, now it's over to you. Although the format has changed the prizes are just the same.

Prizes
  • Winner voted by the design team receives a $15 gift certificate or choice of two (2) standard-size (5x7) ARTplorations stencils if the project has STAMPlorations products; if the winning project doesn't have a STAMPlorations product, winner receives a $10 gift certificate or choice of one (1) standard-size (5x7) ARTplorations stencil.
  • Top picks voted by the design team each receive a $5 gift certificate or choice 2 digis
  • 1 winner randomly drawn from entries that have STAMPlorations products (stamps and/or stencils) receives a stamp & stencil pack or $10 gift certificate

    Berry Special

    Afternoon folks.
I'm not usually around at this time of the week but for one reason or another I find myself with some crafty time. I'm not feeling guilty because my craft class has been cancelled so I'm making up for it!

My card today is inspired by a couple of challenges out there.

When I saw the latest colour challenge at LIM, I thought about a set of Avery Elle stamps I got awhile ago and thought it would combine well with a couple of other challenges -One Layer Simplicity and Without Words.
I started by masking off a strip on a plain white card with Post Its then stamped the small berries in Memento before colouring in berry colours with Copics. A hand drawn line along the edges with a black chisel tip Copic, crisps the design up and the sentiment says it all!

    Cardz4Guyz

    Morning all.
This week at Cardz4Guyz we would like to see your male orientated projects on the theme of -

    ORANGE and BROWN

Here is my card for your inspiration.

I was a little stumped again but it's sometimes a good thing to be stretched and think outside the box.
I'd been surfing looking for inspiration for another card when I came across a link to this project.
I don't have a Silhouette to cut the Argyll pattern or a die to cut the bow tie but I thought it would fit this challenge perfectly.
I used a small square from my nested dies and cut the holes from a strip of cream card the used it again to cut some coloured squares from DP scraps. The tie was a little tricky but I played around with some scrap paper and made a template before cutting it out, same for the V neck and shirt. I inked the edges of the sweater (Texured Bazzil) and coloured components, before assembling on a cream base card. The button was from the huge stash, but it always takes time to find the right one!

Now it's over to you. For more inspiration nip back and check out the rest of the DT's work and join us.

    Agapanthus

    Morning all and hello August!
It's time also for a new challenge over at Fantasy Stampers, not fantasy but proper old fashioned stamping required!
    This time our theme is-

    LOTS OF LAYERS

Now I'm not into slapping on the layers in cards so I had to think hard about my DT inspiration project. So when I saw the latest sketch over at CASe this Sketch, I knew where I was going with my design.

I think the technique I used here is termed by some, triple time stamping. What it really is, is stamping over panels temporarily adhered together then pulled apart and mounted on contrasting card maintaining the pattern. I used the colours over at Colour Me but as I don't have Stampin Up colours I used the nearest DI's I had. After arranging my circ;les on my base panel I stamped the Stampendous Agapanthus Cluster stamp in the corally ink then again in dark blue. The panels were then separated and mounted on blue card and trimmed. A Crafters Companion greeting was stamped in blue on a white banner and adhered to the base at one end.
    Job done, CAS with layers!

OK, now it's over to you. Pop over to the blog to check out what the rest of the DT have come up with for your inspiration. Remember no digis allowed.
If you fancy joining us as a GD for a month just add GD after your name on your entry.
