Warp Speed

Morning all.
Well we seem to be back to a typical British summer, rain and wind and sunny intervals! I'm not complaining, we needed the water in the reservoirs,  as did the garden and I can't do at all with the high temps day after day. Anyway as it was pelting down with rain I have been playing in the craftroom!
This week at Cardz4Guyz our theme is:-

GET WELL SOON

What do you think? Here's my inspiration using Paper Smooches Space Cadet set.

I used the layout at CAS(E) this sketch for my get well card, using just the little alien, sentiment and small stars, though they came out looking more like flowers for some reason!
I created my galaxy background before cutting a circle from it and mounting on my top panel. The alien was stamped and coloured with Copics before fussy cut. I added some glossy accents on his eye for added interest and stamped and embossed those stars in silver.

OK, pretty simple but quite sweet in a masculine sort of way!
Please check out the rest of the DT for some fab masculine inspiration.

It's going to be a busy week here so keep popping back for some summer reveals!

Thomas Pusscat

Hi and welcome to a post to announce the start of this week's challenge over at ATSM.
Here is my card, can you work out the theme?

Well this week we are around to our CAS challenge.

I used a few challenges for my inspiration for this design, LIM would like to see pets, ATCAS masculine, AAA friendship and it's the Male room's 5th Birthday.
As a family we've had a few different pets over the years, Max the current house dog, Gilbert the hamster who escaped and piddled in my A. Doris's mohair coat, Joey the budgie, Chico the poodle and when we got our first house Thomas Pusscat. He, I say he but he could just as easily have been a she as the vet couldn't get near 'it' for flying claws to check, was a stray that the local ruffians tried to hang in a tree behind the house, we took in, or rather he allowed us to feed him. As you can expect he was rather reluctant to trust humans but eventually he became part of the family. He was black with a white bib and a couple of white paws.
When I was pregnant with our first child, he would lay across the top of my growing bump and then prowled around the house looking for me when I was admitted to hospital. Taking one look at the returning bundle he sniffed then walked out with tail erect! He was quite an independant cat and hated catteries so he came with us on holiday once and was even walked on a lead! When my second child arrived he was getting on for eight but took to the youngest and would wait for both to arrive back from school, waiting on the wall at the end of the road, you could almost set your clock by him. The kids loved him and were heartbroken when he walked out one day and never returned, despite a thorough search of the neighbourhood, they'd lost a friend and family member.

Anyway down to the card. The window was cut from a panel of white card using a MFT patchwork die minus the patchwork panels and was replaced back into the panel with some NitWits DP behind. The MFT BB Buddies little boy was coloured with Copics and fussy cut and placed in front of the window. I made the window sill by cutting some banner dies and stamped the greeting on one end.

A very quick CAS card really. For more CAS inspiration, check out the rest of the team here, then why not join us.

Altenew's Rose Flurries

Evening all, it's time for a new challenge over at HLS CAS. Here is my inspiration card for you.

Can you guess the theme, it's -

For my card I went with some die cut flowers, using Altenew's Rose Flurries cut from white card and coloured with Copics. I find it easier than searching out coordinating  coloured card and the results are softer as well I think. I've also used watercolour pens in the past to colour them too, but the look is a little looser. My colour choice was dictated by the photo over at JUGS and out of interest I made it under 10 mins so can enter at INKspirational too! It was easy to get under 10 mins as I had most of the elements already cut and only needed a couple of extra leaves for this design. The whole Rose Flurries set just about covers an A4 sheet so it's just easy to leave the dies on the backing sheet, moving the odd couple that are inside others, and cut them all in one go, I will always find a use for the extras, just as in this case!

I started the design with a linen base card and inked though STAMPlorations Dots all Over stencil with Fossilised Amber DOx in the top left corner, fading the colour out as I went. After arranging my blooms and gluing them down, I stamped the sentiment from Born to be Wild with Versamark on black card, heat embossing it with white EP before using an MFT banner die to cut it out and sliding it under the edge of the spray.

OK, that's all from me but check out the rest of the team and then why not join in.

Put Your Feet Up!

Good morning all.
It's time for a brand new challenge over at Cardz4Guyz and it was my turn to choose the theme, I went with:-

RELAX

Hopefully plenty to get your teeth into here. This is what I came up with.

I used an image I stamped when my friend Di came over for a few days, it's from LOTV called Put Your Feet Up! I was debating how to layout the card when I saw the sketch over at the Paper Players, then used some LOTV DP and a couple of scraps of coloured card which I embossed for added interest to complete.
The stamped image was coloured with Copics then fussy cut and placed on pads over the tag, cut using a Poppy Stamps Main Street tag die. I used colours that matched the DP to give an harmonious effect. The sentiment is a mixture of LOTV and Uniko's Birthday Sentiments.

That's it from me but please check out the rest of the gals here and why not join us, you've got 2 weeks to do so.

Fun in the Sun

Hi, it's time for a brand new challenge over at ATSM. Here is my inspiration for you.

This week our theme is ........

So your entry must be something where the focus is handmade marks, so no pre-coloured or die cut images please. I used ink for the background and Copics to colour but the choice is all down to you!

My starting point was the challenge at Less is More, OL and stripes, then I saw the challenge at Seize the Birthday was also stripes and that ATCAS wanted cards on the theme of summertime! So this cute little boy playing in the surf in his striped T shirt was just the job.
I started by embossing a MFT stitched rectangle into a plain white base card to frame my scene, then stamped the Molly Bloom little boy. I stamped him again onto a post it and fussy cut it to make a mask and used it to cover the stamped image whilst I inked in the beach and sea with DI in Salty Ocean and Tea Dye. After removing the mask, I coloured the little chap with Copics, adding some shadow on the sand with one too. The foam was made by drawing with a Versamark pen and using some white EP and heat embossing, as well as some white gel pen. The sentiments from LOTV, were stamped in black.
OK, that's it from me but please check out the rest of the DT here and then join in!

It's so much more friendly with two!

Morning all.
It's time for a new challenge over at Uniko. Here's my card based on this month's picture

The pic stumped me at first but then I thought about using punch art to create some cheeky ladybirds, perfect for a child's card. There's lots of them around on my veggies at the moment!
I started them by die cutting an oval of red card and cutting it in half, then used the scattered polka dots stencil and a black Copic pen to create the dots on the red. The faces were made with a heart punch and a black circle. The heart was trimmed down to match the black circle and then inked around the edges with Tattered Rose DI. Using a red Copic I drew in a nose and then added the mouth and eyes with a black fineliner.. A twist of wire made the antennae, secured with tape, before the head was stuck to the body with foam pads.
The background was made by inking through the Nature's Treasures stencil with Twisted Citron DI, before adding the ladybugs and the sentiment from Birthday Sentiments.

Men's Fashion

Morning all.
How are you coping with the heat wave here in the UK? Moi, not too good but at least I can hideaway in my craft room without felling too guilty! We had a good downpour last night so the tubs are filled and there is a definite fresher feel but the temps are said to be climbing again by the weekend, urgh. Still Wimbledon got through 2 weeks with only one shower and a roof closure and that was 'cos of the lateness of the match starting! Can't say I've seen such a dry fortnight in a long time.
Any how down to business. We've a new challenge for you over at Cardz4Guyz. This time our theme is :-

MEN'S FASHION

Here is my inspiration for you using Docrafts Dapper Gent stamp set.

I used the colours from Less is More, but did you know there were so many different olive greens!
I used quite a few for this, DP, Copics, DI and Memento!
I started by rummaging through my DP stock, found some check for the jacket but struck out on the check for the shirt so had to create my own using Tombow tangerine pen and a light olive Copic on white card. The tie was some yellow ribbon coloured with a dark olive Copic. I just happened to have a couple of tiny olive green buttons in the stash and the whole jacket was stamped on the DP with Olive Grove Memento before fussy cutting and edges inked with Crushed Olive DI. I even stamped the sentiment banner using the same Memento Olive Grove and created my mount by colouring the edges of a white panel with the olive Copic.
OK, that's about it from me but pop over to the Cardz4Guyz site for more fashion ideas!
