Release Day at Uniko

Good morning peeps.
Hope you are having a fab Bank Holiday weekend, even if the weather is not what it should be. There's been snow on the Welsh and Scottish hills I've heard!
Anyway it's release day at Uniko so grab a cuppa and settle in for some more fantastic inspiration from The DT.
If the introductions have tempted you into wanting the May release you'll have the chance to win the whole release by partaking in the blog hop but if you feel you can't wait all the sets will be available  to purchase HERE at a NEW time of 9pm GMT tonight.

First up is a card featuring the English Country Garden stamps and matching dies.

This is a card where the butterflies actually wobble over the background! I've seen so many butterflies this spring so I just had to include some with the Sketched Foliage stamp.
The central panel was created using Copic reinkers on Yupo paper and Alcohol Lift-Ink. I tried to stamp the lifted off ink onto another panel but as it wasn't proper alcohol ink it did't work awfully well. I will just have to bite the bullet and buy some proper ink when I go to Port Sunlight next week. 😉
The small butterflies were cut then stamped and coloured with Zig pens.
I saw the wobble technique for the butterflies on Jennifer McGuire's You Tube channel here. She explains the technique much better than me, it involves cutting holes in the panel then attaching the butterflies to a disc of card through the hole. I mounted my finished panel under a frame before adding the whole to a base card.

My second design uses Background Blocks Mid Century Modern II. I was playing around with it and ended up with a slightly patchy embossed panel. I put it to one side and tried again but I liked the first attempt better as the patchy embossing allows the colours to show through.

I couldn't decide which card design I liked best so went with all three! What do you think?

The finished panel reminds me of some wallpaper we had in our first house in the 70's! The first layer was stamped with a pale ink then coloured with Copics before the gold embossed layer was added.
That's all from me but don't forget to check out the rest of the team.

Here's the release in full.

Introducing Mid Century Modern Florals & Mid Century Modern Background Blocks I & II

Morning.
It's day 1 of this month's release previews at Uniko.
The first set up is Mid Century Modern Florals.

Bev has gone all retro on this release, focusing mainly on designs influenced by her love of the MCM movement, you'll find more details about that here.
I might be showing my age here but they remind me of designs from my youth, such as Mum's dresses and wallpaper!

Using a couple of the solid background stamps to create the ring of blooms, I then added detail stamps to each centre. A few high lights were added with a white gel pen and the leaves and stamps added with matching grey ink. On a die cut circle the Happy Birthday from Birthday Sentiments was stamped then added to the card.

My second card is a more masculine card using Background Blocks Mid Century Modern and a sentiment from the December release Wonderful Day.

A few homemade gems were added for a bit of colour and dimension, just dot some clear Nuvo Jewel Drops onto a sheet of acetate then let dry. Add Copic pen in the colour of your choice, peel off and add to your project when the ink has dried with a bit of Matt medium in this case. I prefer to use thid than adding directly as you cut down the risk of splodging and ruining your card!

Card three uses the second Background block and the Big and Bold Happy stamps and dies.

The stamp was inked with a pale ink and then coloured with Copic markers for a solid look, before the sentiment was added.
That's about it for today but don't forget to come back for more ideas tomorrow.
Here are all the new the stamps used today laid out in full.

Mid Century Modern Florals £10

Background Blocks Mid Century Modern £5

Background Blocks Mid Century Modern II £5

Release day at Uniko and a Treasure Hunt!

Woohoo!
Finally the day has arrived and the 7th Birthday February 2019 Reveal, Blog Hop & GIVEAWAY is here! You can get your hands on the new release HERE at a NEW time of 9pm GMT tonight.

Ok, so how about a closer look at the 6 new clear stamp set designs, 2 coordinating designer die collections as well as 1 Stencil Design being released later today.
There's lots to see so grab a cuppa and settle down.

Here's my first card using Birthday Wishes and You Are, Yes You.

The panel was stamped along with the blue panel from this card. This time I used a semi dull EP and it didn't show up as much as the gloss, so I had to ink the pink card with some Seedless Preserve DI to make it stand out, but I quite like the softer look. The bloom was stamped twice, coloured and then one cut and each half slipped behind to create a fuller bloom. No need for an extra sentiment as there are plenty in the background!

This card uses mainly these fab sets.

This little gem is a Release Day FREEBIE clear stamp set.
It will be automatically added to release day orders of £25 or more up until Sunday 17th Feb 9pm GMT or while stock lasts.
After 9pm GMT Sunday 17th February, if there is stock remaining it will be made available for purchase at £5.

My second card uses the sentiments from the You Are, Yes You set and the Graffiti Background Block stamp.

I used the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch for my layout, stamping some pink card with Memento Love Letter ink then added some semi dull EP and heat embossed. The hearts were die cut from a panel of the pink card inked again with Love Letter and the embossing powder. I decided to add some Glossy Accents to the hearts  and popped them up on pads. My sentiment is stamped with the same Love Letter ink.

Background Blocks Graffiti Texture  £5

My third card again uses the sweet bloom stamp from You Are, Yes You as well as the fab Pinstripe Background Block stamp.

This time my inspiration were the colours from Color Throwdown.
I repeat stamped the pinstripes using my Zig brushes to ink it up to create the pattern. On a separate panel of white, I stamped a row of blooms and then cut it down with a scalloped edge die from MFT.
I used my Copics to colour and added a sentiment from the Birthday Sentiment Blocks set, white EP over red.

My final card combines the Abstract Triangle stencil with the Passiflora stamps and dies.

Over at CAS stencil the theme is Ink powders and stencils, so I thought I would get my Brushos out and have a play with the new stencil. I'd seen this photo on Google whilst looking for colouring inspiration and thought the stencil could work as trellis.

I taped down my panel of Mixed Media paper to my board and placed the stencil on top. Carefully adding my Brusho, Turquoise and Prussian Blue and Sea Green, I think! The blue suggests sky, a tad brighter than the brick wall in the pic, the green and purple echo the blooms of the passion flower. I then spritzed the stencil with water and whipped it away quickly before the liquid oozed underneath!
Once dry I trimmed it down to size and glued it behind a die cut frame from my stash.

The passion flower was stamped using Momento inks and die cut, then arranged in the top right.
I originally put the finished panel on a white base card but for some reason the frame looked a different colour so I decided to use a coloured card and plumped for this purple which I think works better, picking up the purple of the blooms and inked panel. My sentiment from Birthday Sentiments is stamped in matching purple Memento.

Introducing Birthday Wishes and Abstract Triangle Stencil

Morning Uniko fans.
It's day two of the February birthday release introductions.
Today we are featuring the brand new stencil Abstract Triangles and Birthday Wishes stamp set.

Here is my card using the stencil as well as Big n Bold Happy stamp set.

To start, I taped my stencil over an A6 panel of  white card, masking off a central section.
Using a water based fineliner, I traced inside each of the triangles before colouring with Copics.
On a strip of black card I stamped the sentiments from Big n Bold Happy and embossed with white EP before trimming down to size. The happy was cut from white then a shadow cut from black.
Everything was glued flat onto the coloured panel.

The second card uses the Birthday Wishes stamp set.

As there were so many different sentiments to use I decided I would use them all and make a sentiment background.
Using my MISTI, I arranged the stamps to cover an A6 card panel, filling in the gaps with other Uniko birthday themed stamps, such as Birthday Sentiments and Big n Bold Happy. Using Versamark ink, I inked the whole array and stamped onto a panel of bright blue card and embossed it with clear glossy EP. I kept the assembled stamps on the MISTI and stamped off a couple more, but more of those later. As I had one of the bobbler dies left over from this card and the balloon dies and stencil were on my desk too, I added one in a complementary orange. Details on construction of the balloon can be found here. In the spaces between the entiments, I went in with the two solid stars from the Seeing Stars set and embossed in the same EP before adding the balloon.

For some more fab inspiration featuring these new stamps and stencil check out the rest of team. All details of the release so far are here.

Uniko Blog Hop, revisiting all over stamps and stencils

Over at Uniko on non - release months like this, Bev and the Design Team look back at a previously released product and give it some more love together with a Blog hop and GIVEAWAY!
Usually it's just one product that was released the previous year or a once favourite that hasn't seen much air time. However, this time Bev couldn't decide on the product, so as a team we randomly selected a stamp set and then went a little polka dot crazy and added in some popular sentiment sets too!

I went totally polka dot crazy with this card for my daughter's Brother in Law's forthcoming nuptials in the Big Apple. She's not big on flowers, so requested something that was more suitable for an urban style wedding.

On an A6 panel of white I inked through the stencil in an arc with a Versamark pad, before embossing with silver EP. I then moved the stencil around and repeated, 1st with Silver Pearl EP, then Hologram Sparkle EP and finally with Memento London Fog. The sentiment from Birthday Wishes was also stamped in the grey ink but embossed with a clear EP.
I wanted to have a hint to the NY event, so added a skyline with 3 strips of a die cut in shades of grey card that matched the confetti effect of the stencilling.
My finished panel was trimmed and then added to another of silver glitter paper, before beiging glued to a 5 x 7 white base card.

My second card uses the two Simply Said Blocks sets for an all over background pattern.

Using Autumnal colours I stamped my brick background using 5 of the blocks, Thanks. Thank You, Hello, Smile and Just a Note. The thanks was then cut from the finished panel with an alphabet die and again from brown fun foam. Before replacing the thanks into the die cuts, I stamped the 'You're Awesome' in Brown and heat embossed it with clear EP. The stamped die cuts were glued onto the foam ones then replaced into the spaces. The whole lot was mounted onto a white basecard,
You don't have to use the thanks idea, different blocks would work just as well with a different die cut word or phrase.

For more inspiration check out the rest of the team here.
