Afternoon all.
It's 1st July which means were heading into the second half of the year, can you believe it?
Well over at Color Hues it's time for a new colour combo and it was my turn to choose. My mind went to Christmas in July with my choice of colours but you don't need to follow that route. As you will see from the other members of the team there is a huge diversity of takes on the new colours. Here's my take.
I really needed to start on my Christmas stash, so here I've use Hero Arts Winter Trees stamp and a die cut deer from iO.
I simply stamped the tree image onto a panel of cream card with Versamark and heat embossed with gold EP. I trimmed it down and added the gold embossed sentiment, Uniko, before adding the die cut stag. I cut two, one from black and one from kraft as I wasn't sure which would look best but eventually use both, the black one slightly off set behind the kraft one to create a shadow. My panel was mounted on some really old black and gold DP I found whilst looking for the cream card and again onto my cream base card.
Where will this new colour duo take you? As always the team and I are looking forward to seeing your makes in the Color Hues gallery. Should you need more inspiration why not check out the rest of the team here.
See you in the gallery!

This is wonderful. I love how you used the gold to emboss the trees and the way you did the deer with the (shadow) effect.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great choice of colors, Julie, and a beautifully elegant Christmas card to go with it! I'm behind on my Christmas cards too.
ReplyDeleteLOVE this, so elegant. I too am lacking in Christmas card numbers. Since Christmas with the Cuties ended I have rather got out of the swing of making Christmas cards all year. I really must get a wriggle on. That said, crafty time has been in short supply but I am planning an escape from the NHS so will be reducing my hours fairly soon!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE everything about this elegant Christmas card Julie!! The gold embossed trees and the kraft deer with the black shadow look so good together and I love, LOVE the tiny bit of gold and black DSP peeking out from behind the main scene. Lovely, lovely card my friend!! Hugs. :0)
ReplyDeletePerfect color combo and well executed idea with this color combo, Julie. Your card is lovely! The DT did such an amazing job with your duo, I can't wait to see what our players make. Thanks for picking such a great pairing.
ReplyDeleteLovely colour combo Jules! Your card is so elegant and beautiful. xx
ReplyDeleteSo effective in those colours - loving the peaceful feel to it. Thank you for joining us at ABC Christmas Challenge xx Lynda/Loopyloo DT
ReplyDeleteElegant and stylish Christmas card, Julie. I can't believe how quickly we're heading into the festive season....

This is one gorgeous Christmas card! It can be difficult to get such a large area embossed as perfectly as your is, and the off set black for the stag was a fabulous idea
ReplyDeleteI share your urgency about adding to my holiday cards for the coming season and yours is such a beauty, Julie! The embossed trees and background look just amazing, and like Karen, I'm impressed with how well the embossing turned out. I'm always on the struggle bus with embossing large areas ha ha! Thanks for a great color combo!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card!
ReplyDeleteThanks for playing at the ABC Christmas Challenge!

ReplyDeleteI just love that golden forest behind the stately deer! Julia xx
