Another Christmas Make

 Evening all.
I've managed to get a little me time after my son and family have returned home to spend the rest of the holidays with the other side of their family. It was lovely to have a house full and to be fair it does seem very quiet after all the activity of the last couple of days! We even got to pull out the extension to the table that we bought many yeasrs ago and has sat as a side table in the hall since then!

Anyway I said I would share another card and here it is, another LOTV digi coloured with Copics.

This consists of two scalloped circles attached at the top with a smaller black and even smaller stamped and inked panel in the center of the top panel. A partial cut whiter panel creates the base for the sentiment, Uniko, as well as the coloured and fussy cut couple to stand on.
The blue panel was made by inking a white one with Tumbled Glass DI and then an ancient red rubber stamp featuring snowflakes added in the same ink. Some sparkly Stickles were added along the black border before it was added to the scalloped card base.

Happy Christmas!

A Snowy Scene

Afternoon all.
Just sitting down after hoovering the kitchen and snug prior to the OH mopping down ready for tomorrow's visitors! Only the utility loo and lounge to do now!
Anyway I've got a few minutes to share this card I made for my Son and wife, which also fits with a few challenges out there!

Over at Inkspirational they want COLD and those two skaters are all wrapped up from it as they skate through the snowy landscape that's just right for the latest Allsorts challenge! As I've used Copics to colour them that fits with the Promarker Challenge too!
The DP is some NitWits paper which I printed off and glued to an A5 white base card, leaving a little border of white card. Next, I made my landscape by die cutting an aperture into a smaller white card panel, embossed with a falling snow design and some white card die cuts of trees and hills to create a scene for my skaters to slide through! These were a LOTV digi which I printed off, coloured with Copics and then fussy cut and added to the scene, together with some freehand lines to replace those cut off from the original. A stamped sentiment, Uniko, completes.
So that's all from me for the moment, I may grab a little me time to share some more Christmas makes next week, fingers crossed!

Happy Christmas!

Christmas Critters

Morning all.
It's the final challenge of the year at Cardz4Guyz where this month our theme is:-

CHRISTMAS CRITTERS

I love a cute critter at Christmas and have lots of images in my stash but eventually I went with this cute Margaret Sherry image that came free with a magazine some time ago.

The background was created awhile ago from strips of red and green card made from scraps which were glued onto a piece of white card to create a pattern. It's a great way to use up all those oddments we all have that we keep because you just never know when you might need it!!

So, after glueing the strips onto a square green note card, I stamped my image and coloured using Copics, then fussy cut out. A very old Woodware sentiment was stamped onto my background and the mice added with foam pads.
We are open for entries all across the festive period so it's the perfect opportunity to share some of your Christmas makes or dare I say it get ahead with your Christmas 26 stash!!

For more inspiration, please check out the rest of the team on the Cardz4Guyz blog.

Uniko BA Inspiration

Evening all. Have you got all your Christmas cards made and posted? I hope I have but I do have a few spare just in case.
So today I'm up on the Uniko blog with an idea for a New Year card that was inspired by a couple of challenges. What do you think?

On an A6 top fold, white note card, I stamped the Background Blocks- Party Confetti in Versamark and embossed with jewelled gold EP. On a separate panel of white, I used the numerals from the Alphabet Solid set to create the 2026 in more of the jewelled gold EP. This was mounted on a slightly larger black one then added over my confetti with foam pads. A simple sentiment from Simply Said Blocks Christmas in black completes.
The layout of this card is also a nod to the CAS Colours and Sketches as it users the square layout of this former 2025 sketch made seasonal.

This layout is a square one and mine is rectangular but the 4 squares are represented on mine by the numerals of the year! The gold EP always says celebration but it also reflects the saris in the photo inspiration over at Time Out!

Color Hues #123

Afternoon peeps, is it really December already?! November passed me by in a haze of Olbas oil, tissues and menthol sweets as I tried, along with my OH, to get rid of an awful cold that seemed to drag on for the whole month. Anyway as I wasn't feeling upto housework, :), it gave me the perfect excuse to play with some new stash that I'd bought back in the summer, Waffle Flower's Postage Collage starter set.
Here's what I made for the new Color Hues challenge.

Initially, I bought just the starter kit but finally decided to buy the Christmas stencil set at Port Sunlight back in October. There are far too many lovely sets and they aren't cheap as they consist of 4 separate stencils, so it took me awhile to choose. I love poinsettias so this one spoke to me!

I have restricted my colours to those of the latest Color Hues colour duo and some neutrals, so my poinsettias are shades of pink, as are my scandi stars, all arranged on some new to me card I also picked up at Port Sunlight, Warm Taupe from Lime Tree Crafts. It has a subtle texture that I liked and hope to get more next time I see his stand. I do like kraft card but sadly getting some that's not too dark is difficult of late, this might become a good substitute in the meantime!

Once I'd filled in the patterns using the stencils, including a bit of sparkle using a gel pen on the reindeer, cut up the panel and stamped some of the postage elements in black before rearranging onto my panel. I stamped Merry Christmas, Uniko, onto black and heat embossed with white. All the postage elements were glued flat but I popped the sentiment up on foam pads. The trimmed down taupe panel was then added to an A6 white note card.

So where will this colour duo take you? We're looking forward to seeing your makes in the Color Hues gallery which will be open for the whole MONTH!! So lots of time to make something, perhaps use some of your gifts from Santa, once all the relatives have gone, or perhaps in a quiet moment whilst they're still here ;)!

MERRY CRAFTMAS and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Uniko Blog Hop featuring MCM Baubles

Morning all. It's release day at Uniko for the MCM Bauble stencil and masks and as per usual we are having a blog hop and GIVEAWAY!!
All week Bev and the Brand Ambassadors have been using the new stencil and masks together with the MCM Baubles clear stamp set to create some fab inspiration. Now you can get it for yourself but first there are a few more ideas on how to use it and the matching stamp set, here's mine.

I used the masks and the stamp set coloured with Copics, to create this image.
I started by stamping the larger of the two baubles and then masked it with the mask before stamping the two smaller baubles. Keeping the masks inplace, I then stamped the evergreen bough from Winter Foliage with Altenew's Evergreen ink. Still with the masks in place, I used a small blending brush to flesh out the boughs before finally removing the masks and colouring the baubles with Copic Markers.
The bauble hangers from the stamp set were added and heat embossed with platinum EP, drawing the strings with a black fine liner. A simple sentiment completes.

If you aren't the colouring sort, here's the same layout but using the stencil and mask.

I used a mix of DIs and gold EP for the hangers in this example.

This final card is what you get when it's dark and miserable outside and you really don't want to do much at all. I found myself looking at tutorials on YouTube!
I'd seen a tutorial for watercolouring Christmas lights a couple of years ago here and found getting the shape of the bulbs consistent problematical, I needed a stencil! So after using the stencil as intended, I went a little off piste so to speak and created this.

Using the oval apperture I drew lightly around the shape with a soft pencil, but as the bauble had a point, I had to freehand the bottom of the bulb. Once all five bulbs were spaced out evenly on my panel of mixed media paper, I drew in the screw heads and the wire before following the video as best I could. I don't have the specific watercolours that were used, so substituted those I did have. When fully dry, I stamped and embossed the sentiment from Christmas Sentiments in WOW Platinum Sparkle. Once complete, I trimmed the A5 panel down and mounted it onto some silver holographic card in my stash and then onto an A5 base card.

So that's all from me but as usual we have a traditional Blog Hop and Giveaway, so lets look at what Bev and the other Brand Ambassadors have created for today. Be sure to leave a comment along the hop for your chance to win a £20 eGift code to spend in store.

Introducing MCM Baubles stencil and masks

Good morning.
Earlier this week Bev introduced a brand new stencil to Uniko's stable, MCM Baubles. It comes as a stencil but also contains the masks, always useful I think. Yesterday Bev and Anita showed you what inspirational ideas they had, today Izzy and I are giving you some more inspiration using the new release and of course the MCM Bauble stamp set.

Here is my first idea, very much along the lines of this card I made for the Uniko VIP FB challenge but it was also inspired by the moodboard at JUGS.

For my earlier make I used masking tape to mask off a simple tree shap but this shape would be very fiddly to mask without the stencil!
I stated by placing a piece of white card under the largest bauble in the stencil, securing with masking tape before adding it to my MISTI. The openings for the rest of the baubles were filled with the masks and a piece of scrap paper added across the bottom of the card to avoid any unwanted ink!
Then I stamped away using Seasons of Beauty and Winter Foliage to fill the opening. Removing the stencil and masks relevealed the floral center in the shape of the bauble. The hanger and string from the MCM Bauble set were then stamped with Versamark and embossed with gold EP. The sentiment was simply added with black ink.

My second card was made using just the stencil to create a soft background of baubles inking a white panel with Altenew's Coral Bliss ink, moving the stencil as I went. Once the background was completely covered, I stamped a few strings with the stamp from the stamp set.

The focal point was created by inking the ornament from the stencil with Altenew's Heart Beat then adding the hanger and string by stamping. It looked a bit sad just plain so thought about using the other stamps from the set but instead just doodled some patterns with a sparkly red gel pen and a bit of dark grey too. The hanger looked a bit lost so I inked over that too with the red pen. I still wasn't satisfied, so created a fine frame using some red glitter paper and Altenew's Fine Frames die. A simple sentiment stamped on some inked card and mounted on a scrap of glitter paper completes.

So that's all from me for the moment but there'll be more inspiration from more of the team tomorrow and Friday before our release day blog and giveaway on Saturday.

Happy 70th Birthday

Morning all.
Another month has whizzed by and it's time for a brand new challenge at Cardz4Guyz. This week Billie has chosen this theme as purple is her favourite colour and it's her birthday, happy birthday Billie!

A BIRTHDAY CARD WITH SOME PURPLE

So here is what I came up with.

You can just about see his purple braces and belt, along with some colourful purple laces!
I made this card for my Hubby's 70th after seeing a similar card on Pinterest. Luckily I managed to buy the fab stencil the designer used, Dutch Doobadoo, so was able to combine an old Mo Manning digi, Introducing Oscar, to create this. Braces aren't my OH's go to but the overall look was what I was going for, however the tall rangey guy in jeans and boots is pretty much on point!
Oscar had been printed off a while ago and all he needed was colouring, I used Copic markers, then fussy cut him out. The background was stencilled onto an A5 white base card using a mix of DIs, Vintage Photo, Weathered Wood and Wilted Violet. I searched long and hard for a sentiment but eventually printed one on my computer onto some card and die cut it with a circle die, edging it with more of the DI.

So that's all from me, but please check out the rest of the team here for more inspiration.

Color Hues #122

Afternoon peeps.
Can you believe we are already halfway through NOVEMBER!! Christmas will be upon us before we know it. Well over at Color Hues, Nancy has chosen a colour duo that might help with those Christmas makes, here's what I made.

My wonderful bloggy friend Loll, one of our GDs, and her group of 7 cardmakers are using textured tissue paper and hilighted embossing for their technique this month, so I thought I would have a play.
I found some white, thickish tissue in my tissue drawer, yes I do have such a thing, you never know when you are going to need it!
On my craft mat I smooshed some Galactic Stream and Teal Cave inks from Altenew with a spritz of water and added my square of tissue. It proved to be quite strong so I could move it around to get good coverage. When dry I added it to some white card with PVA then when that panel was dry, I embossed it with an EF. The technique works best with a deep embossing folder but this was a freebie, Crafters Companion I believe, just a plain old EF.
It says to use a brayer but I used some Inca Gold silver wax which I added carefully with my finger tip to the raised areas.
The panel was then trimmed and added to an A6 top fold, white, note card and finished off with a couple of strips of silver glitter card from some crackers from a couple of Christmases ago and a Uniko sentiment stamped in more Galactic Stream.
So what will you make with these colours? If you need more inspiration, please check out the rest of the team here as well as our TWO GDs Loll and Joanne, then why not join us?

Uniko VIP FB Challenge - Christmas

Morning all. Uniko is launching their November VIP FB challenge today, where the theme is

ANYTHING GOES CHRISTMAS

This is a great chance to crack out those Uniko goodies and get some Christmas cards made! Here's one I made after seeing a reel on FB over the weekend.

The actual card was fully freehand but I loved how the artist used a simple triangle which was then filled with festive foliage to suggest a tree. For my take I used an assortment of sets but mainly Season of Beauty and Winter Foliage. I'm also linking up to a few other challenges, Time Out where my favourite Holiday to celebrate is Christmas. The Male Room want a floral masculine card, I think that Christmas cards are a perfect way to incorporate that theme. Allsorts are focusing on Christmas cards and Simply Clean & Simple want winter/holiday cards.

To begin I took a panel of Mixed Media Paper and masked off a simple triangle with masking tape. I made sure that it was low tac and that it was pressed down onto the paper, no leaks wanted here! Then using the poinsettia stamp I inked up with Altenew's Heart Beat and then stamped again with just water to blend out the colour. Before it dried too much I added the second layer with Altenew's Vineyard Berry. I did get a bit of bleed but it didn't bother me too much! The green sepals were stamped with the reverse of the stamp in Fresh Leaf and then again with the detail in more Fresh Leaf.

Next I added some holly leaves from Winter Foliage and Altenew's Evergreen ink, followed with the berries in more Vineyard Berry and a few evergreen boughs in Altenew's Moss. Using a smaller cluster of berries stamp, I used Altenew's Coral Bliss to fill in some spaces, finally filling in with some small freehand leaves in gold paint. After leaving it to dry while I made tea, I then carefully removed the masking tape and stamped the star from the Pattern Building Christmas Tree in Wild Honey DI, then painted it with more gold paint.

My pot/trunk sentiment is from Peace on Earth, which I cut in half to create the stacked look. Don't panic I can still use it as it was intended!! I embossed it with some gold EP. Once trimmed down my panel was added to a red panel and added to an A6 top fold note card. MM paper is the whitest w/c paper I've found but still looks awful on white or sometimes even on off white cardstock so a coloured background works best.

So that's all from me but please join us over on FB for a chance to win a little gift from Bev and of course just have some fun!

Featured Artist at Color Throwdown #844

Good morning. I'm here bright and early for a post for Color Throwdown.
I'm the Featured Stamper for this challenge after my poinsettia card here was picked out.
So without further ado here is my make!

I thought for a long time about what I should make for this challenge and as my bestie's birthday has crept up on me, I thought I would make her a birthday card in the colours! Two birds with one stone, so to speak!

I chose to use DIs for my inked background panel, Salty Ocean, Kitsch Flamingo and Mustard Seed, adding patches of colour to a panel of white card. To create some texture, I spritzed the surface with water along with a few more larger drops, that I then mopped up with a paper towel. I tried not to overlap the colours so that there wasn't too much colour mixing!

My snarky sentiment is an old one from a DoCrafts set from over 15 years ago, Nostalgia High Heels, which I stamped onto a circle of white card, leaving space for my Copic coloured Ai lady.
She's from their Sassy Laugh Lines set, which after colouring, I fussy cut and added with foam pads. A few Pretty Pink Posh sequins complete the panel, which I added to a white 5 x 7inch base card.

So there you have it, please check out the team over a Color Throwdown for some fabulous inspiration and then why not join in?

Color Hues #121

Afternoon, hope your weekend is of to a fine start!
As it's the start of a new month, we have a new colour duo from Color Hues chosen by Sheri. It's a fab autumnal palette that I'm sure will have your creative juices flowing. Here's my take.

I've used Stamping Bella's Quinn and her boots, together with some DPs.
After stamping, I used Copics to colour and for a change didn't fussy cut her but cropped the panel instead. A sentiment from my favourite Uniko sentiment set was stamped in black.
On an A6 beige card, I added a panel of diamond DP, NitWits and below some hessian DP from LOTV.  I found a small piece of orange check DP from another project in the bits box to cover the join but it was a tiny bit too small, so I cut it in half, the gap was conveniently covered by the image panel!

So that's it really, but please check out the rest of the team here for more fab orange and brown inspiration!

Orange Purple Black use 1 or more

Morning all, time for a new challenge from Cardz4Guyz which I'm also sharing over at Uniko.

This time we have a colour challenge for you:-

USE one or more of ORANGE, BLACK or PURPLE

Here's what I made using Uniko's Nature's Treasures Stencil and all of the colours.

CAS is a great way to make a masculine card and as flowers are a bit of a no no for them too, I turned to leaves. In this case I used Nature's Treasures II stencil, some DIs,Wilted Violet, Black Soot, Ripe Persimmon, Carved Pumpkin, Dried Marigold, Ripe Persimmon, Spiced Marmalade and a sentiment from Organic Wishes.

I mostly used the smaller of the two stencils moving it around to create the look of an autumnal tree, inking onto an A6 top fold white card. I wasn't sure how the purple element would work out but I quite like it. Where it overlays the orange it gives a shade of brown but the purpley hues suggest depth and the black stencilling, shadows. The sentiment is quite ambiguous and could be used for a variety of occasions, including sympathy.

You don't have to use all of the colours like me but at least one has to feature prominantly. You could go down the Halloween route or perhaps like me autumn is more your vibe, the choice is yours, just make it masculine. The team have a few ideas should you need them here.
As I've use orange and purple in my design so I can share it over at Color Hues, The Paper Players are all for foliage and the mood board at JUGS has an autumnal feel too!
