Introducing... Christmas Sentiments

Good morning folks, time for a look at another of Bev's Uniko September release sets, Christmas Sentiments. I love these new sentiments looking a lot like the font on the recently released Doodle Flower!
When I first saw these new sentiments, I knew they would become a favourite, so they became the star of this card, based on one I saw on Pinterest.

Using some sentiment bubble dies from Lawn Fawn, I die cut some bright Christmasy bubbles and stamped the greetings in Versamark and heat embossed with white EP. The largest one was glued flat to a linen effect base card and the two green ones attached with pads. A few die cut hologram snowflakes complete the design.
A simple design and easily repeated, just change the colours and the text included for a totally different look.
For more ideas, check out the rest of the girls and hop along with us.

Introducing... Background Builders: Winter Wonderland

Good morning.
This morning sees the reveal of the first new stamp set from Uniko.
Here's my idea for using Background Builders: Winter Wonderland.

This is part of a larger panel, you may have spied the other half here from the Funky Fossil/Uniko Instahop, earlier in the week!
On a panel of dark blue card I stamped the hillside in Versamark and heat embossed with white EP. The snow stamp, part of the Uniko BB Winter Wonderland set, was stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with more white EP around the trees and deer and then a second row stamped upside down. Any glaring gaps were filled in with a Versamark pen and more EP!
Using a pierced rectangle die, I cut out a small section of the larger panel, attached it to a white linen effect base card, adding the sentiment from the new Christmas Sentiments set in dark blue ink.
A quick CAS card, I think you could get up to 3 small panels from each stamped one, so great for mass production!

Instagram Hop with Uniko and Funky Fossil

Hi, Uniko and Funky Fossil DTs are getting together to share some new Christmas designs in an Instagram hop! Here are a couple of examples that I shared over on Instagram, @sportyjules56.

My first uses a Funky Fossil stencil and gnome image from Nordic Noel and a Uniko sentiment from the up coming release.

I simply added Ranger Texture paste through the stencil onto kraft card, coloured and fussy cut my gnome and added the sentiment on a red die cut banner using Versamark and heat embossed with white EP. Two white, die cut panels on a scrap of card, were wrapped with red butcher's twine, then the stamped and heat embossed sentiment panel and gnome were added. The gnome was added and the whole attached over the trimmed down kraft background on an A6 white card base.

My second card uses a Uniko stamp set and a Funky Fossil sentiment.

This is actually part of a panel I made for the upcoming Uniko September release.
The remaining panel was trimmed down to a square and the sentiment from FF Nordic Noel stamped and heat embossed with white EP, nestles neatly in the bottom right of the trimmed down panel. My blue panel was mounted on silver mirror card and then glued flat onto a white square base card.

Red Hoodie?

Morning folks. My, the last two weeks have flown by and the new challenge at Cardz4Guyz has crept up on me but I still have a card to share! Our new theme is -

ADD SOME METAL

OK, where to go, in the end I added a simple metal eyelet for the string of my hoodie to poke through!

I made this for my Son in Law's birthday, he's a tricky age, too young for some ideas and too old for the cuter images in my stash! In the end I revisited my MFT Zipper Die-Namics set to create this fleece hoodie in his football team's colours. I like using the die set as it is very versatile, allowing me to create a variety of zipped themed jackets over the years.
For this one, I found some red Bazzil card in my stash of bits just big enough for one side of a hoodie and some linen textured white to make a T-shirt.
Once the red jacket element was made, I added my eyelet and threaded some string through, knotting the end.
To create the T-shirt, I cut an A5 panel of textured linen card, folded to make a side fold A6 card, trimmed away 1cm from the top front, then cut the neck shape with a large circle die into the top right. From a scrap of the same card, I cut a slightly larger part circle with a stitched circle die and cut away the excess with the first die, creating a piece that suggested the welt around the neck of a T-shirt. This was glued in place then the jacket front, complete with white heat embossed STAMPlorations sentiment, was added to the base card with pads to accommodate the string.
So where will the prompt take you? What metal will you add to your design, we'd love to see you in our gallery. If you need more inspiration check out the rest of the team here.

Uniko

Good morning folks.
It's the start of a brand new challenge over at Uniko.
Here's my card to inspire you.

I used one of the large Doodle Flower stamps from the last release and the smaller ones from BB Doodle Flowers around the sentiment from Birthday Sentiments.
On some white card, I stamped the larger flowers and also one of the BB Doodle Flower with black ink.
For something different to my usual Copic colouring, I inked some Mustard Seed DI over each flower and then some I left yellow and others I added Carved Pumkin, Ripe Persimmon and Dried Marigold DI with a blending brush, adding more colour towards the edges and allowing some of the yellow to show. After fussy cutting the blooms, I added the dark centers with a C10 Copic marker, its not quite as stark as black.
On an A6 white base card I stamped the large sentiment and then arranged the flowers around. When satisfied with the arrangement, I glued them down and trimmed any overhang away. Using the small 3 dot stamp from BB Layered Floral, I added some dots between the orange flowers, then some white gel pen to the center of the flowers. The finished flowers remind me of the Rudbeckia and Helianthus flowering in the garden at the moment.
So that's about it from me but for more Autumnal inspiration please check out the rest of the team here and our lovey GD Nonni.

I Hope You Feel Beautiful Today

Hi and welcome.

It's the middle of the month so time for a brand new colour combo from Color Hues! Here's my take on Kristie's choice of colours.

You can see from this that I'm still in strip mode, paper that is! I made a decision at the beginning of lockdown to try to use my stock of bits and bobs up and not buy more stash, well other than white for card bases, I have managed to stay true. Using strips to make a background is a great way to use those odds and ends but it still leaves me with a mountain of coloured card and DP to use.

Taking a selection of pinks and purple card from my stash, I cut 1cm strips and arranged them onto a scrap of thin card, then using my PoppyStamps Lorelai leaf die, I cut 4 from a scrap panel of white card. These I layered up and placed the finished leaf spray over the top of my trimmed down panel. On a piece of black card, I stamped this sentiment from Altenew and heat embossed with white EP.

To finish the card, I added the center panel to an A6 card base and popped the sentiment strip on pads over the top.

So where will these new colours take you? So far you haven't disappointed us but if you need that extra input, why not check out the rest of the team here.

Brusho Hexagons

Good evening, time for a new challenge over at Perfectly CAS. Here's my take on this month's cue word.

I went with hexagons as my geometric focus, cutting a variety of them from a panel of card coloured using some Brusho powder in Scarlet, Crimson and Lemon and a few cut from gold mirror card.
The sentiment is from a stash that my friend Sarah, Sazzle Dazzle, sent me quite awhile ago after a HLS retreat but have been saving. They were cut from white card so I was able to colour them to match my card. This time I used an E49 Copic marker before gluing it flat over the hexagon pattern, glued onto a panel of off white card 1/2cm smaller on all sides than the front of an A6 card base.  The thanks was stamped with Expresso Truffle Memento ink using a free with mag stamp and the completed panel glued flat onto an A6 base card.
What does the cue word suggest to you? We'd love to see your interpretation in the gallery. If you need more inspiration, check out the rest of the team here.

Masculine Stripes

Good morning folks. How can we already be in the second week in September? The year is whizzing around so quickly! Anyway it also means its time for a new challenge over at Cardz4Guyz. This time we have a colour challenge for your. We would like to see your masculine cards in -

YELLOW, BLUE and GREY

Here's my card, a case of one I saw by the lovely Therese Calvird here.

I've been making backgrounds with my stash of scraps so this was the perfect opportunity to use up those scraps. I cut a selection of strips in a range of sizes from yellow, grey, blue and white card and added them to a panel of thin, white card in a diagonal pattern.
When the whole panel was covered, I cut 3 circles into it and then cut in half. This allows you to make two cards from one panel if you want to. My panel was added to a white linen effect base card and the half circles added on pads also. My sentiment from LOTV was stamped and heat embossed in white on black.
So that's it from me but please check out the rest of the DT for more masculine inspiration and then why not join in? We'd love to see your take!

Robins on Seed Heads

Evening all, its time for a new challenge over at HLS CAS. This month we are all of a flutter with own new theme! Here's my inspiration using one of LOTV's new Christmas digis, Robins on Seed Heads.

There are lots of things with wings in the category of fictional, mythical, practical and natural to name but a few. So what to go with, dragons, planes, butterflies, birds? So as I recently purchased the LOTV Christmas release, I thought I would use this image.
After printing it out on some Copic friendly card, I finally made it to the stationers last week, I coloured the cute robins and seed heads, then added a crisp blue sky in the background. The seed heads remind me of the fennel heads in my herb garden, it's usually blue tits in them in the summer, the robins tend to sit on the TV aerial singing to proclaim their territory! Once finished, the image was cut down and added to a white A6 base card and the Woodware sentiment added.
So where will the cue words take you? We'd love to see in our gallery but please remember to keep it CAS. For more CAS inspiration check out the rest of the DT here.

Color Hues One Year Birthday

Good afternoon folks. I can't believe we are in September already, where did August go. Well chez Beech, the OH has been busy sanding down our oak windows and painting the ones that don't need the double glazed units replacing. The ones at the front get a real pasting with the sun so after one went it was only a waiting game before the others went. It's just the big panes, for some reason the small ones haven't suffered the same but others have gone in other places. We decided to go with an ebony finish with added silver, the OH is not getting any younger and the idea is that the darker stain will last against the strong sun and he wont have to paint as regularly.

Anyway, I've been doing some colouring of my own for the latest challenge at Color Hues. Can you believe we have been up and running for a year!!! Nancy has organised a little giveaway too plus we're also welcoming a new team member, please say hi to the fab Tracey McNeely
This time we've got a lovely sunny combination that made me think of my bestie from Grammar School whose birthday it is this month. Her fave colours are shades of orange.

I love the AI ladies, they make me smile and as I am a lady of a certain age they are rather appropriate!
This stamp features 3 ladies but as I wanted it for my bestie's birthday, I cut away the third lady.
After colouring them with Copics, I fussy cut the ladies and put them to one side.
To create the background papers, I stamped various sentiments from Uniko in matching shades and drew some stripes to match with Copic markers, it's a great way to get your DPs to match!
I added a sunray embossed circle of white card to a larger one which had been coloured with one of the same yellow Copics and added the ladies with a die cut bobbler. I've used these before, its a die from Stampendous that cuts a sort of spiral which allows the image to bobble around, just like these two are with laughter!

The shadow shows you where the ladies are held away from the background, sadly it doesn't show the movement!
On a panel of 5 x 7 scrap paper, I assembled my homemade DPs, covering the join with some Copic coloured grosgrain ribbon after I had trimmed it down a little, then added to a white 5 x 7 card. A sentiment from the same AI set completes.
That's all from me but please check out the rest of the team for more colourful inspiration.
