Hi and welcome to my post to announce the start of this week's ATSM challenge -

MAKE YOUR MARK

So any project where you use handmade marks, colouring, sewing, painting etc.

Here is my CAS card, sorry for the poor pic but trying to get a clear one of a card with shiny silver on is always a trial!

My son is off to quite a few weddings this year, friends from work and school, so wedding cards are in demand. I used this MB stamp I won last year and my Christmas pressie from aforementioned son, Prismacolor pencils. The layout is taken from the Paper Players and the colours from Card Concept.

The heart was stamped and embossed with silver before I coloured it with the pencils. It's my first time using these so I was unsure how it would turn out but I quite like the soft look. I used a variety of pink and pinky reds to build up the depth of the heart and a v pale pinky beige for the shadows on the blossoms. My white panel of linen effect card was inlaid into the silver linen effect frame before mounting on a white base card, the vellum banner cut and embossed with a sentiment in silver EP was laid across before adding the silver die cut Congrats and the fussy cut heart, the latter on pads.

Morning all.

We've a brand new challenge starting over at Cardz4Guyz today. This time our theme is-

MUSIC

Plenty to get your teeth into there I think. Here is my inspiration on the theme.

My daughter requested some child's birthday cards as she had run out, the hectic social whirl of 7-8 year olds, so I decided to take the LIM OLC challenge and create a cute music inspired card.

This image was a Pink Gem digi freebie from a mag a few months ago and after deciding on my design I printed him off on card and coloured him with Copics before adding deep shadow as it was a OLC and some extra music notes. To finish I doodled a frame with a fine liner and added the sentiments. I did add a few extra marks to his face as my daughter doesn't like the trend for faces without noses and mouths!

Audrey's Christmas card

Evening all.

Just popping by to share a card for the latest challenge over at Merry Monday.

Their theme this week is SNOW so I thought this card rather appropriate.

This card is destined for my old next door neighbour. It's a long running joke between us for me to send owl related cards for Christmas and birthdays because of her love for Sheffield Wednesday FC or the OWLS!

I used my Lawn Fawn owl stamp and my favourite embossing folder for snow. The inked panel behind him was bleached with water to give a snowy effect also. The sentiment is from Uniko, I do love this set and the branch was from a Woodware set. My owl sports a blue and white scarf as those are the Wednesday's colours. I myself am a Sheffield United supporter and as a teenager used to use Audrey's Mum's season ticket to go and watch them, they play in red and white. Both my kids are Wednesday supporters as was my Dad, I think I supported United just to be awkward!

Spotlight Stamping

I had some time the other day to have a little play in the craft room.

Looking around for a little inspiration I saw the sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch, colours at Altenew and spotlight stamping technique at the  Flower challenge and combined them in this card.

I used a selection of flowers from Altenew's Beautiful Day and Remember This to stamp a spray in Espresso Truffle then embossed with a WOW semi dull EP, as I was going to use my Zig pens to colour.

After stamping on my panel of linen effect card I used a Spellbinders Fleur de Lis square die to cut out the panel. To keep the tiny bits in place, I added some double sided tape to the back of the die cut before removing the card from the die. Using the colours from this months challenge at Altenew, I watercoloured the blooms on the die cut with my Zigs, then glued it to another black fun foam die cut. The uncoloured layer was glued flat onto a white base card before adding back the raised up panel.

Black and Gold @ ATSM

Hi and welcome back to a post to announce the start of a brand new challenge over at ATSM.
This week it is out photo inspiration so without further ado here is my take

on this luxurious photo montage.

As you can see I was pretty literal with my interpretation.
Black base card, gold glitter embossed panel and a die cut stags head.
The panel is a background stamp from Uniko embossed with a shimmery Stampendous gold EP and the die cut stags head, a freebie from before Christmas in a mag, is cut from gold mirror card and simply laid on top.
The sentiment, also from Uniko was stamped and embossed with WOW Super fine gold EP.
The overall effect is quite masculine, almost a gentleman's club look.
So what will you take inspiration from? It's all down to you and your imagination, but if you are still stuck for inspiration the rest of the team have come up with some great ideas, see them here.

Birthday Wishes Just for You

Morning all.
We're back at Cardz4Guyz with a brand new challenge to start the new year. 

JANUARY BLUES

Here is my card using embossed resist technique and a couple of die cut deer.

I saw this card over at Less is More over a year ago and loved the effect she got with the technique so I have been wanting to try it out for myself.

I started by stamping in Versamark and embossing in white, the branches from a Penny Black stamp, Joy to All, around the edge of a panel of white card. I then added some DI in Salty Ocean and Blueprint Sketch with a sponge, adding some more of the branches in the same colours. I die cut the IO deer from a scrap of black card and added the sentiment in black also. I trimmed down the inked panel and then mounted it on a 5 x 7 base card.

I've been wanting to try this technique out for awhile so as I needed a card for a up coming birthday it was the perfect excuse.

CUTploration, a reminder

Welcome to a post to remind you that there is still time to join us over at STAMPlorations, CUTplorations challenge.

For this reminder card I went with a more graphic take on the inspiration photo.

I have been experimenting with Yupo paper and Copic Various Inks. This was my first foray into alcohol inks ( my second was published yesterday!) but I had to use Copic Various Inks as I don't own anything else. The colours aren't quite as vivid as other reinkers.

Using a small panel of Yupo paper, I added ink from R35, B12, Y21 and a spritz of rubbing alcohol. To get the striped effect, I dragged some kitchen towel across the puddles of ink. You have to be quick as although the paper does not absorb the ink it soon evaporates and dries.

Using the one of the Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle Nesting Dies, I cut my panel, mounting it on a white base card, then from scraps of card cut four panels using the Stitched Winter Landscape die in white, black and two shades of grey. The die has a cute little house on the skyline but I didn't want that part, so I carefully snipped it off the four landscapes. I used the black one to give a shadow behind the white foreground trees and then arranged the other two behind the white to give a sense of perspective. When I had got a scene I was happy with I trimmed them down to slightly larger than my panel and attached them to the bottom of it. The sentiment is from the Lotus Love set stamped in black.

Two Hearts

Morning all.

It's another grey day here, nothing much to cheer away the January blues. Still at least it's not icy or snowy!

I've been planning this card all week, every time I tried to make a background something went wrong, first the w/c paper soaked up too much water and then when I used another piece it was the wrong colour. So I changed tack and use a totally new technique that popped up on my Pinterest feed, using Alcohol ink, Yupo paper and cling film.

My good friend Loll got me interested in Yupo paper and I indulged just before Christmas but didn't have the opportunity to use it then. So although I don't have any alcohol inks, I do have Copics and refills and they are alcohol based, so decided to have a play. Not wishing to waste my expensive paper, I cut one into 1/2 then one in 1/2 again to give me a small panel which I coloured with a couple of dark Copics, BV09 and V09. I then added some V12 Various Ink along with some blending solution and quickly laid over some scrunched up cling film and left over night.

I was quite pleased with the end result, adding a couple of cut down scribbled hearts cut from sparkly silver card and a brand new sentiment from CASual Fridays in silver to complete.

Hi and welcome to a quick post to share a card made for a neighbour's 60th party invite.

My husband decided I should make a card rather than ring up as the initial invite was lucky to find us. The address they used was a little bizarre but thanks, I think to the postie's local knowledge, it arrived amongst a load of Christmas cards. He said that I could include the proper one if we sent a card and surely I had one anyway!

Well I had but none were suitable so using inspiration from CASe this Sketch and CAS mix-up I made this. (Forgot to add a stamp so no good entering at CAS Mix Up!)

To start I created an inky panel from starch, brusho and cling wrap then placed it over a panel of white card, then die cut the thanks. The initial idea was to use a black die cut to replace the one cut out but in the end I went with silver. Then, I decided to fit a thin slither of the same silver at the junction of the two colours and placed an further silver thanks over. I could have done away with all the inlay piecing together but I did prefer the end result! A few punched stars in the same silver card and a die cut one from the inky panel complete.

Good evening and welcome to the start of the first challenge of the year over at ATSM.
It might be a little early for some but this week our theme is -

HOLIDAY

I know we've just got into the New Year but it could be an opportunity to share a card that you made but haven't shared, just like I did here.

I made this at the HLS retreat last November. Fellow attendee and ATSM designer Carol S, wanted to know how to use the PB watercolour effect stamps and Linda another attendee had this PB Poinsettia with her, so I had a play with some DIs, my Zigs and MISTI. I did another one too but didn't get around to finishing it off. The sentiment is from a HLS Christmas set.

Just a simple OL stamped and coloured card.
