Beautiful Day

Good morning all.
Well the first day of spring was springlike but today is another matter! Rain over night, good job the ewes sensed the drop in temps and kept their legs crossed. Not the avalanche of lambs that were expected so we were able to keep the last batch indoors and relatively dry. I must admit it was so delightful to see the little white darlings jumping up and down the mound of soil outside my bedroom window yesterday. Amazing what a bit of sun on their backs will do.
Anyway, back to the real reason for this post. Over at Cardz4Galz it is time for a new challenge. Our theme for the next two weeks is-

NAME YOUR POWDER?

We would love to see projects where embossing powder is the focus.
Here's my card using Stampendous' detailed white EP and Altenew's Beautiful Day stamp set.

I love to use EP to delineate the edges when watercolouring as I've done here. I planned my layout using the sketch from The Paper Payers. I took a bit of a liberty with it as I used the same size bloom for the three circles ( I haven't got any small Altenew blooms with the outline I needed for the third circle position) but overlapped the blooms as per sketch. I added a few leaves to balance the arrangement, masking as I went. Embossing white on white is tricky as you can't always see if there are any stray bits of EP before you start colouring and you have to be careful about the sticky residue from the masking. Its a good idea to use an anti static chalk bag before you start to help reduce those stray blobs. Mind you some managed to show up despite all my efforts.
Once the embossing had been heat set and cooled, I started using my Zigs to wash in colour, as per this weeks Color Throwdown and to create some shape to the petals. I used a couple of reds for the petals and a water brush to blend, the same for the leaves with green and a couple of blues for the background. The centers are a mix of Zigs and a little deep yellow Copic on the anthers.
To complete I cut my mixed media paper panel with a MFT die and mounted it on a plain white base, nothing much more needed other than this simple die cut greeting from X-Cut.

OK, that's all from me, I'm off in a bit to the dentist as I've a chipped tooth, wish me luck.

I'd like to join in over at -

No smooshing for me!
