Guest Designer @ HLS CAS

Welcome to a post to share a card I made as GD over at HLS CAS.
Seems ages since I won their CAS challenge with my faux mother of pearl card, but it;s time for a new challenge there and here is my card.

This month's theme is

Here are a few links to help you along

I wasn't quite sure what ghosting was but after a little bit of research on these links and a few others, I found more than one technique with this name. So its up to you to choose.
For this card, I went with the bleached out effect using DIs and water. There are lots of different ways to do it, I've tried using a stamp spritzed with water technique to remove ink from a panel before (here) but for this I used a large image, Stampin Ups Blended Bloom inked with Salty Ocean stamped on a panel of the same. I then used a fine watercolor brush and plain water to paint the center of each petal.
Leave the water on for a couple of minutes, then using either a brush or kitchen towel lift off the water. Repeat until you get the deserved effect. The anthers in the center of the blooms were done the same way. If you try this, make sure you keep the stamped edge clear of water or you will not get a sharp edge and the bloom will loose definition.
I finished off the card by cutting the finished panel at an angle and adding a strip of black, stamped with a heat embossed white birthday and silver one, silver happy and a few silver sequins.

I'd like to join in over at -

Just the photo for me this time

  3. Great job with the ghosting technique Jules. Love the effect of your water stamping / ghosting / ?? technique. I know ... there are a few names for this technique. :) Love it paired with the black, white and silver. Really gorgeous. This would be perfect for the CAS Mix Up June challenge - die-cuts. Hope you'll enter your card there too. xx
